3.... that's the magic number

User Rating: 9.5 | Battlefield 3 PS3
Having purchased many games since my last review i plan to review them all (and there's a lot!!)

If you haven't heard of Battlefield 3 along with its immediate rival i ll assume your either a blind deaf recluse, even martian invaders would have heard about it by now.

The one player is a little weak and i haven't really got past the part where the sniper is on the hotel roof, i wanted to go online. So this review will be with the online mode in mind where the game is at its strongest, and it shines.

Having had all battle field games in the series and most mods on a range of hardware its clear that the console versions offer rather scaled down imitation of the superior pc version. That doesn't necessarily promote a bad experience, infact im playing my ps3 version more than anything else. Now all the pc boys will be taking up their moral standings ready to shoot me (haha literally on bf3 !!) down, here's my opinion.

Vastly superior in visuals, level capacity and frame rate shifting the pc indeed offers the best experience for this, however... with so many more players with itchy trigger fingers waiting to stick an rpg up your ass it can get a little frustrating and frankly tedious being shot every 5 seconds. I know the usual "maybe you should be better at it then" attitude from the i play hardcore 24 hour a dayers gamer would be the response, (what ever floats your boat and hey im not gonna slate anyone for enjoying gaming that much).

The ps3 software edition offers the more enlightened and lesser player an opportunity to enjoy battlefield in all it beauty, and it is beautiful. The frame rate is only 30 fps but you do get used to that and adapt your style of play accordingly. The welcomed surprise on this platform is you can actually last a while before being shot!! Which makes for some real good fun.

Visually it isn't great and it is, the character modelling isn't that impressive, the maps are beautifully rendered and a sense of each destination stands out on their own, The wind blowing the palm trees, the sea, the atmospheric dusts of middle east(i think), even the buildings look authentic and real to the area!!

It sounds great with the usual war fare sounds, but i laughed at the swearing from your leader. Infact its that good, when your shoot by a sniper the sound sometimes it makes you jump!! And you really do feel you have been shot or wounded!!

Vehicles can carry 3 or more people (land) and some choppers carry 6, planes
buggies, jeeps, all with some mounted armory for another player to use just adds to the multiplayer "stay alive" experience. You can swin, oh and amphibious vehicles, slow but good fun!!

All in all i ve enjoyed the battlefield experience, memories of BF2 on 360 are good ones.

If your a die hard pc player you ll get the most from that edition, for the console boys a very nice online experience which in my opinion cannot be matched. And for the record ive had over 100 hours on it now and play it daily.
