Even if you had a 2500K, your video card would barely manage high settings.

Uh no, I have a 2500k and a 6850 and I'm running 50-60 fps just fine on high, and that's with crossfire turned off.

So you upgraded everything except your CPU from your old CompUSA desktop...

THis is a joke, right? A P4 wouldn't even start this game.

    As for frame rates:

    0-10 - Unplayable
    10-20 - Barely playable
    20-30 - Playable, but laggy
30-60 - Playable, but may feel laggy is frame rate is inconsistent
    60+ - ideal

If you get above 30, it's playable, although if it fluctuates in the 30-60 range, it can feel a bit laggy at times....its not so much the actual frame rate as it is the inconsistency of the frame rates. For this reason, I wish more games included the ability to cap FPS at 30. I mean, vsync only caps at 60, which i find stupid because above 60, it feels smooth for me regardless.

Just brought this up due to the huge debates over FPS above.

    i get 50-60 fps with a 6850 all high settings and 1080p

This, You elitists forget that even the "entry level" 6850 is a beefy card. Get two and its the equivalent of a GTX580 for about half the price.

I can run this on high, some settings on ultra with plenty of headroom for AA and I get a SOLID 60 FPS. although I have two of them.

Running with one and I could play high, 2xAA and 60 fps no problem.

Love how people try to justify their £1500 super rigs by saying that "it's "IMPOSSIBLE!" to max this with your card you need the GT40X500HD2000 to get at least playable settings", or my favourite "to max this game you need a 2450*1600 monitor at 120fps in 3D" SNORE!

I only have a radeon 7750 and I can play it on ultra. I leave a couple things on high but pretty much all other settings are ultra. A 7750 is as high as u can go without changing your psu
