Enlarge your map, it will help you fire Mobile Artillery more easier. Look at the white spot (where the rockets detonate) and adjust your fire angle :D.

I enjoyed Close quarters to an extent, but the problem with it is that too much of the maps are exploitable.  The maps favored specific weaponry and promoted campers, plenty of times players would just corner camp and wait till someone ran past and shot them in the back, if they knew the high traffic areas.  Most players just used the shotguns, smg's and personal defense weapons on these maps and the players who didnt use those weapons were basically cannon fodder due to the high power fast firing close range weapons.  PLus it was very close to COD in terms of design, alot of the maps didnt have destructible environments and it was run and gun/camp game play.  I have the CQ expansion and I only enjoyed it for the new weapons really.

What you guys talking about? I loved CQ and so did many others. I wish they would make more CQ maps Total Awesomeness.

can I buy this as a stand alone or do I have to get the premium pack?  I really dislike the close quarters combat the entire reason I played BF over cod was the bigger maps and vehicles.

 @AlphaProWolf It definitely has a Bad Company 2 flavor. You don't need Premium though. It'll be available for regular download in another week.

I got the limited edition day one it was 60 Euro and payed around 50 Euro for premium but all in one its worth the money because this is one of the best FPS multiplayer games I played in a long long time and I dont think anything soon can top it :D Sure CoD is run and gun fun but its BF3 where the real possibilities and skill lies and sniping is very, very satisfying in BF3

I hate DLC for pay. I already payed $60 for the stupid game now they want more? Those maps should be free to keep interest in the game.

 @Iron_aufschlag It would be nice, wouldn't it? It's not a new trend, though. Paid expansions have been part of Battlefield since the first game ten years ago.

guessing bf3 still has one of the worst hit detection issues in the history of FPS.

talk about bang for the buck.

sammoth
sammoth

 @finde111

 I don't know what game you guys are playing. The hit detection works just fine. You are supposed to have bullet drop that affects where you hit. Also each gun has it's own recoil that also affects each hit.

 @sammoth  @finde111 We looked at a shot taken by a recon player one time that passed between an attackers arm and body, then went over an ammo belt of another player and hit the wall behind them. At full speed it was confusing how the player could have missed, but frame by frame showed very accurate hit boxes and detection.

 @finde111

 That around the corner death is lag can be on either end. client Side or Server. Keep your ping choices under 100. Make sure you have a correct build on your PC. I am not going to even discuss consoles. As I said I don;t have those problems unsless I am lagging or server is. Has nothign to do with Hit Detection.

finde111
finde111

 @sammothoh, BF with forstbite 2 engine and overly complicated and resource hogging way of everything, will you ever be optimized enough not to show around the corner death in my life time? ahhhhhhhh

sammoth

 @finde111

  Ever looked at those crosshairs which expand and shrink? That's an indicator showing you the amount of random deviation applied to your bullets. A core element of all Battlefield games release so far. Has a lot to do with it.

sammoth
sammoth like.author.displayName 1 Like

@finde111

I have prolly played more than you over the years when FPS first started. However how many games you play has nothing to do with the subject at hand. I do not see these issues on the PC version. Some people it could be video lag with there video card: AKA poor optimization of there system configs. I can tell you as a PC player I have bumped into a ton of people that play PC games that are clueless on how to configure there rig to play games optimized. Usually, most cases a bottlenecked system with poor performance and then blame the game for poor code etc. Well you still haven't provided any proof besides and opinion and an opinion of others. As I said lag in the game from time to time but, hit detection hasn?t been an issue for me and many others I play with.

finde111
finde111

 @sammoth  It's still happening all around with or without suppression, lag and bad hit detection.

 played FPS quite a lot and fiddled with the games to get the ultimately optimzed results bestest hit detection if you will, and I am thinking a lot of knowledgeable, and skilled professional FPS players ; CS, quake, COD4 you name it,...would slightly beg to differ...

sammoth
sammoth like.author.displayName 1 Like

@finde111@anvilone

Well that's your opinion. There are plenty of BF3 players that will disagree with you. You have no facts to back up the hit detection issue. Lag yes from time to time. You can type in all the Hit Detection Issues with both game on You Tube but, You Tube isn't a fact. A lot of it is people that have no knowledge on how the BF 3 Suppression and Aim/ Fire mechanics works. This is what happens when you get a lot of people not familiar with the BF series and jump on the bandwagon. All The BF?s played like this esp. the aiming. Suppressing was a very nice feature added.

finde111
finde111 like.author.displayName 1 Like

 @anvilone  Even when I considered everything,; the lag, bad hit detection due to lag, overly complicated method of hit detection which frequently stifle bandwidth; the one thing very clear and almost no one can deny is that BF3 is very prone to lag and bad hit detection, around the corner death, instant death etc.etc.

DICE put too much strain to how the game calculate the hit registration, and the result is everybody's complaining about bad hit detection, lagging.

Type up "bad hit detection call of duty" and "bad hit detection BF3" on youtube and compare the number of results of both.

DICE put too much into it and most servers and even high end rigs can't really handle it well enough, that's for sure.

and lastly lololololololol for comic relief for harsh derp.

 @pezzott1  @sammoth  @AirDog80  @finde111 Spread is also a factor and in some of these cases the player is being suppressed which dramatically increases spread. You may have seen rivaLXfactor's video demonstrating this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPP5OHk5s6w

Your second video clearly demonstrates lag, not hit detection. Anyone who plays BF3 has experienced that before. The best way to prevent that is to choose servers in your own region with a strong connection.

Also, I don't think anybody was making an incendiary comment about BF3 vs CoD players. sammoth was just highlighting a difference in gameplay style between the two. CoD has more of an arcade feel, which I don't think is disputable.

sammoth
sammoth

 @pezzott1  @AirDog80  @finde111

 Again your not seeing they whole picture. That is Beta footage and there are enough comments in the Youtube board that expalins it.

sammoth

 @AirDog80  @finde111

 I think people don't understand the range factor when aiming + movement on the target they are aiming at = the location of the hit.

sammoth
sammoth

 @AirDog80  @finde111

 Agreed. Some people just don't pay attention and they want it to have that arcade feel that COD is.

 @finde111 the hit detection is quite late, but its extremely accurate, i can shoot with a sniper rifle to a guy running from left to right and the game gets it properly everytime, i dont know if you played bfbc2 but that was a lot worse, you can hit people there and blood will come out but no damage, im personally very happy with how BF3 works

 @middleman102002  @finde111 I think we did not play the same BF3. I played bf3 since the beta and seen the evolution of their hit detection. Not accurate at all. LoL

Didnt know bullet drop had anything to do with hit detection. :)

finde111
finde111

 @pezzott1  well, what you say sound truthful enough and I tried but I just couldn't force myself to enjoy about 0.5 second delay in hit detection.

lololololol what's more funny is that I am not joking entirely.

 @finde111 you know i never thought of the hit box ratio i thought it was a ping rate error when you clearly unload a clip into your enemies face and he shoots you once, lives to fight another day while you lay flat out pretending to play sardines!!! though as said when it works its a blast.
