Battlefield at first appears bland, but still manages to bring an exciting first person experience to the xbox.

Battlefield 2 may not look like a solid game. It looks pretty bland and uninspiring.

At first glance one may assume the game is a butchered port from the PC, but that statement is far from being true.

Battlefield 2 uses the tools it has on the console and does it right. The controls may seem a little weird at first (most notably the inventory system) but once you get into the action it doesn't become a problem. The hotswap feature is a neat gameplay element and makes the game stand out amongst its competition.
(hotswapping allows you to switch to allied soldiers on the fly)

Unlike most first person shooters, a death will not force a mission over screen, instead you will be switched to another soldier on the field and continue your objects. This makes the game less frustrating, but it also makes it a lot easier.

The campaign and its story is forgettable, but you do get to play from both sides of the war. (which can be confusing, i.e. Team A tells you to bomb a power plant, and then you switch back to Team B in the next mission to counter the power plant bombing)

The game has a fair deal of extras, from different weapons minigames to a whole ranking system. However, the only thing I found missing was a basic war mode, everything is in mission and objective formats.

**I cannot comment on Xbox Live as I haven't played the game online**
