What more movie based games should be. Do not play this if you haven't seen the movie or did not like it.

Most movie based games tend to be crappy, slapped together titles with uninspired game play that has a high price tag. Battle: Los Angeles is a relatively short FPS game that sells for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99).

The game takes about half an hour to beat on normal. Slightly less time on Easy and more time on Hard. The game is pretty solid, enemies take cover and are generally competent. There are only 3 enemy types, Alien soldiers, walking guns, and the aerial drones. There are also 4 weapons, M16, Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, and a 50 caliber machine gun mounted on a Humvee.

The plot follows the movie closely and contains some spoilers, although I noticed some characters from the movie were completely absent and some events in the movie were either changed for game play purposes or were not in the game at all. The cut scenes were done in a rather bad looking motion comic style that does not match the mood of the game or movie at all.

The game features a lot of unlockable content. Pictures, videos, and 3 mods. Its also an easy game to get 100% on. The audio is nice, although the M16 is quiet and the drones are extremely loud. The voice acting is also mediocre even though one of the actors from the movie is in it.

Overall the game is great quality for only 800 points. With competent enemies, some fun battles, and great looking graphics I recommend this game for people who have seen the movie and enjoyed it.
