It's like pilotwings at war...

Ah, this game...

It takes the cute style from advance wars,
replaces it's characters with ones that are actually memorable,
drops the turned based system and makes it one excellent shooter/strategy combination. It reminded me of the PC game Sacrifice in many ways. Being part of a battle while controlling a large troop of men, aeroplanes, tanks and all other things you have seen in the advance wars games.

Switch units with the press of a button gives a great amount of freedom. Unfortunately, the sheer amount of units running on the field and the C-stick based selection mode often makes it hard to switch to the right unit or give your troops the right orders on time.

Gameplay is often a trial-and-error matter, you can find yourself failing and replaying missions very often.

However, once you know what is about to happen - you can act accordingly. It is just hard to get a good overview the first time a level is played.

The elvels themselves often use the same textures & objects in the scene, but the amount and diversity of enemy troops set-up makes this hardly noticeable. The ability to fly in different aircraft, drive a diversity of vehicles and play as multiple kinds of troops keep this game interesting from start to finish.

Afterwards, there is little to go back to - but the main campaign is large enough to keep you playing for a while.
