Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Arkham Asylum. Arkham Asylum suprised everyone and quickly became loved. Many people thought it would be impossible for Arkham City to top it. But it did. It improved on the very few flaws and added much more gadgets, combos, and most of all, many popular villains that were missing from the 1st game. The Joker is once again the main villain with Harley Quinn by his side. There were many villains new to the Arkham series including Hugo Strange, who's in charge of Arkham, The Penguin, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Ra's Al Ghul, and many others making smaller appearances. The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and Bane all return as well. Batman's allies inlude Alfred, Oracle, Robin, and many undercover cops in the city. Catwoman is playable for a few missions throughout the story mode, and her gameplay is much different from Batman. She is fun to play as because she is more agile and can swing around the city, but she has few gadgets compared to Batman. Arkham City is open world across the "Prison City", and the environment is dark and gritty, with inmates throughout all the streets, which makes it extremely dark and makes it fun to go around and beat the crap out of these guys and strike fear into their hearts. Riddler trophies return in this, but is much more involved, and Batman must actually solve riddles to save The Riddler's hostages, which can be very interesting and takes a lot of thought. The main story of this game is what succeeds the most. I dont want to spoil much, but there is many twists that will happen. The Freeflow combat is back and better than ever, with a lot more combos, and more challenging enemies. The AI is signicantly improved, inmates will adapt to Batmans stealth strategies so you wont be able to do the same thing to take out enemies. Boss Fights in this game are all very unique for every villain. Detective Mode is back and extremely helpful to scan parts of the city to strategically take out enemies. This feature is one of the main things that make this game incredible. The voice acting is top notch and everyone voices their characters very well, especially The Joker and The Penguin. The Graphics of the characters are fantastic, they all look very cool and different from each other. The city also looks great, you really feel like you're in a dangerous place that's crawling with criminals. Batman Arkham City is easily one the best games of the year.
