Arkham City manages to surpass the brilliance of its predecessor in almost every way.
Story
Bruce Wayne is captured and sent to Arkham Island by main villain Hugo Strange where there are loads of supervillains there like Two Face,The Penguin and the Joker who is apparently suffering from the side effects of the Titan formula from the original and he is close to death unless he finds a cure. When you meet him he injects you with the same thing that caused him to be ill and now you need the cure as much as he does so Batman has to retrieve the cure but its not as easy as it looks.
Gameplay
The combat is almost unchanged from the first game but this time you can pull bad guys down from ledges,grab them through breakable walls and even get them from underneath the vents. The bad guys in the game there is alot more even in the beginning there's like 30 in one room for you to deal with. They sometimes carry guns,hammers and sometimes mines they leave on the floor.
As with the last game there are plenty of secrets to find like the Riddler Trophies about over 300 in total and some are right head scratchers. Also Rocksteady added in certain side missions which you can do if you want to or just push forward with the main story. There are more Gadgets to go along with the Batarang,Batclaw and others like a Freeze Blast,Smoke Pellet which blinds enemies so they can't see where you went and even the ability to change direction on the Line Launcher. There's more but I won't spoil any more items for you.
Batman also has learned a few new moves like the Dive Move and the ability to Grapple Boost which makes you take off from where you fired the Grappling Hook and sends you flying off across Arkham City and the ability to walk on Tight Ropes as well. The bosses are also a massive improvement over its predesscor in everyway because you not fighting armies of bad guys all the time.
Also if you input the Code given with you when you bought the game you can play as Catwoman through certain parts in the game and she has a Whip,climbs walls and even crawls on
grating and it really is fun to play as her. Also you get a Robin code but you can only play as him through the Challenge Areas like the ones in Arkham Asylum.
Presentation
Without doubt one of the finest looking games ever I mean the areas like an ice section,sewers and carnival all look incredible as does Arkham City itself. The character models look amazing to and there are some top performances from the certain cast espically the Joker who steals the show again. Also as the game progresses you will notice Batmans cape has holes in it and he has a cut as well and also the way the Joker looks he really does look like he is sick in this game. Also there's chatter going on between guards as well and I like how the guards look they seem to represent a certain villain in the game.
Lastability
I would say about 10 to 15 hours of the main story but there are sidequests Riddler Trophies and a New Game Plus once you beat the main story once it is a harder difficultly of the last campaign as well as the Challeneges as well.
Overall Opinion
Improves on Arkham Asylum in so many ways. It has a Dark feel makes you feel more like Batman and it also just feels so good to play. If you played Arkham Asylum and loved that then you shall adore this. Buy it now
