One of the jewels of last gen consoles

User Rating: 10 | Batman: Arkham City X360

Batman Arkham City is the second entry in the Batman Arkham series, and it is by far the best. Unlike Batman Arkham Asylum, it features an open word that fully utilizes Batman's grappling and gliding skills. The story takes place in a prison built in the aftermath of the ending of Arkham Asylum where the criminals of Gotham city are housed as an attempt to keep the citizens safe. After a campaign rally, Bruce Wayne is captured by Hugo Strange and locked up in Arkham City. There he proceeds to kick Penguin's butt and escape to the top of a building where Alfred supply drops his Batman suit and all unlocked gadgets from Arkham Asylum. While you have several gadgets at your disposal from the beginning, you still unlock more throughout the game which adds even more variation to combat. Throughout the story, you meet up with several memorable characters from the Batman universe such as Catwoman,The Joker, and Two Face with a surprise appearance from Solomon Grundy. The gameplay takes a similar direction of freeflow combat from the first installment, but this time with more quickfire gadgets and new takedowns such as the disarm and destroy which allows batman to grab an armed enemies weapon and destroy it. Side missions litter the open world, providing more for you to do after you beat the main story. Also new game plus allows you to redo the story mode on a harder difficulty with no counter icons. Many people may have moved on to next gen consoles already, but if you're still holding on to an Xbox 360 or PS3, pick up Batman Arkham City
