If you play it on normal you'll unlock new game+ which bumps it up to hard but you also keep all of your previous upgrades and i think at least most of your side progress for like riddler trophies and stuff.

You guys are aware that there is a Hard difficulty setting that is completely independent of New Game+?
Anyways to answer TCs question there is zero reason to play this game on a difficulty harder than normal other than the enjoyment you'll receive from playing and beating a more challenging game.

Obviously. Nothing in my post indicated I was unaware of Hard mode, and the same could be argued for warfanatic's post.

to be honest, the only thing i would imagine is that much easier is the fight with Mr. Freeze but i've never played AC on anything but hard. i went straight from getting 1000 gamerscore in AA into this a month afterwards and didn't have trouble with anything except for him... and i didn't even care how many times i had to retry it (don't get me wrong, it was a LOT of times), Mr. Freeze was my favorite character in the game by far
all in all, no incentive whatsoever to play on hard except for the satisfaction of doing it.
