Great. So if the servers are down you can't play anything....

@prime05 You don't need the console. You can go to onlive.com, sign up, and try it out. The whole service is free. The only thing you have to pay for at the moment is games. Though you can even try 30-minute demos of each game for free.

@chamomilebaths You'll get no trouble from me. No, you didn't outright say that subscription is best but it's what I got from reading your post before this one. It was like looking at a pyramid and telling an ancient Egyptian I see triangles, it's just what I got from your post. Also, my comment is saying it's not for me, again I'm not telling anyone to buy or not buy Onlive I just don't agree with everything going totally digital. As for me posting on an ONlive page, tell whoever is in charge to get rid of the comment box. I'm not a Founding MEMBER, but if onlive wants to make money, I think that they'd want to bring people like me over to they're cause. I haven't judged it, in all my posts the point I'm trying to make is I'm not convinced Onlive is for me. I will try it and I'm sure I'll enjoy the games it has to offer, but price point for games and a lack of hard copies is an issue. Even the Expendables came with a hard copy for digital download. I'll give it this though $100 bucks for a console is sweet.

@prime05 I know I'm asking for trouble here, but oh well. No, I didn't say subscription is the best way. It's just an idea at this point and I'd probably never subscribe. I don't play enough to justify it. And it does stream single player games really well most of the time. Assassin's Creed, Borderlands, and Arkham Asylum included. When my internet has problems I can't play NBA 2k11 very well (which I got for free for being a "Founding Member" and buying Borderlands). So it's not optimal yet. But you're posting on an OnLive page. I was guessing you wanted to see why it was cool. It's pretty incredible and before judging it I'd give it a try.

@chamomilebaths So subscription would be the best way to go when it comes to Onlive is what your saying? So maybe I should just subscribe to gamefly.com. Also, you better make sure the bit rate you get from your internet provider is optimal, otherwise streaming a game like Batman or Assassin's Creed isn't going to be fun. This is for people that are casual gamers or just feel safe without a hard copy. I've been a gamer since '79 (3years old atari) and switched over to colecovision in '84 before there was console wars. I'm not telling anyone not to buy Onlive I'm just saying it's not for me. I don't care if Sony and Microsoft failed tomorrow I'd just plug in my Dreamcast and play Marvel vs Capcom and Soul Calibur or my N64 that also still works. You and whoever else can Have ONLIVE. peace and hair grease & Happy Turkey Day to all!

Oh, the subscription fee this guy is talking about is one in which you would pay a flat rate subscription to play all games over 6 months old. But that's just an idea at this point.

ChamomileBaths 5 pts

@prime05 There's no actual subscription fee. It's kind of ridiculous. At the moment you literally just pay for the games and then stream them. For single player games the system works fantastic! Multiplayer games aren't as great, but the response time is very fast. On the plus side since everyone is streaming from an OnLive hardware center no one gets host in multiplayer. I spent $20 on Borderlands (I could've bought it a week earlier for $10. GOTY and individual expansions are also available). It's works pretty phenomenally

if ur familiar with pc gaming u know that pc graphics DESTROY consoles....and the only way i wuld be interested is if onlive's server gpu's are those on par with the latest pc ones (gtx 580, etc.)...otherwise i like to own my games/and not pay full price where u culd go on amazon or anywhere else and buy them used for much much cheaper. ---also about the games how do you own them? just online? what if i wanna sell the game? what if the system is a failure? refund? virtual owning is flawed, atleast for add-ons and such u dwnld them to ur hard drive.

This was a pretty rough video to watch. Not because of the OnLive, which I think has potential, because it could have used a little more editing and maybe a rehearsal or two. Seems almost like he was almost thrown in front of the camera when he wasn't ready. Not trying to slam his video, just the way I saw it.

i spose if you are poor. but it doesnt look too bad. im curious as to what happens in 2014 when they are no longer obligated to honor your "purchase"

I'm with Prime05. I like to collect games with discs and covers that people can admire them on my shelf an more important if it's a collector's edition and has lots of contents. On another hand, Sharju guy has a point about the 100 bucks. A console like x360 or ps3 is 300 to 400 us dollars and the games are much more expensive then on PC. I'd buy the OnLive but how can I do this when I can't even trust Steam!

Prime05 5 pts

No thanks! I have enough subscriptions to different types of media already. I also like my hard copies. Let me burn the games I rent/buy to a disc and I'll consider Onlive.

Bobmarley00 5 pts

hope this catches on. end these console wars then everyone would be able to play all games without owning 3 different types of hardware.
