A perfect demonstration that a licensed game doesn't have to be a bad game.

Difficulty:
Easy
Time Spent:
20 to 40 Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Too short"
I don't normally bother with any game which carries a license... take the Lego games out the equation and the number of quality licensed games can be counted on the fingers of Captain Hook's bad hand.

Hell, if it weren't for my 360 getting the Red Lights then I wouldn't have touched this one either, but as I was re-downloading all my old content having been sent a new machine and been forced to transfer the licenses to my expansions I thought I'd queue up a few demos as well... and this was one.

I played through the demo... then again... and then again... I was hooked.

The game arrived a couple of days later and I played nothing else for th enext week and a half, until I'd finished the game and found or solved all 240 of the riddles as well.

It's not perfect, it's too short by half, you can't help but want more as what is there is top notch stuff.

Yes the combat may be a little simple, mostly one button stuff unless you want to get overly technical and start to experiment but that's personal choice... my choice, as an average gamer at best, was to keep it simple and it didn't stop the game being a delight to play.

If all this sounds like I'm avoiding talking about the game too much then you're spot on... while spoil it for others, people can say that Batman fans will get more out of this than others, and that's true... but we're not writing reviews for Batman fans... they'll have already bought the game and be playing through it for a fourth time already.

The voice acting is superb, the attention to detail is stunning, especially as the game progresses as Batman's outfit gets torn, his cloak becomes tattered and his face starts to show signs of needing a shave... all wonderfully done.

Sure there's some back tracking involved going over the same ground here and there, but the chances of you being able to just run down the same corridors are slim... the building and location may be the same, but the way you move through the building won't be, something new will be there to play with.

Even if you hate Batman, or are wary of licensed games as a whole give this one a go... you won't be disappointed.
