A game worth playing whether you're a Batman fan or not
Did the game live up to the hype? Absolutely! I'm about 2/3 complete during my first run of the game and I'm already waiting for part two: Arkham City.
The game is somewhat a mix of the darkness shown in the Batman rebirth movies with Christian Bale but it has kept it's comic book style with the characters and items. It was nice seeing the old batmobile again (though the rebirth bat mobile is cool too).
Graphics: 10/10 - Graphics are smooth and detailed. I know Batman is stiff and cold in facial expressions but maybe a little more mouth movement would be good even when he is idle! Character designs are awesome and one notable effect is how Batman's outfit wears out during the game depending on the damage you take. Would've been good if the female characters didn't have stiff breasts though. They are big but as stiff as rocks
Voice acting: 10/10 - Excellent for all characters. Lot of detailed intelligent lines on how you play the game.
Music: 8/10 - The music is hardly there which adds to the game to be honest. But the few short tracks that are there do get boring and there could've been some more. I think it would've been good if they followed the music in the recent movies because the soundtrack was full of suspense - ideal for this game.
Sound effects: 8/10 - Yes, only 8/10. They are good but I think there could've been a bigger set of effects. The ones that are there are good though.
Gameplay: 9/10 - The camera takes a little getting used to but overall its very good. Easy controls and easy to get used to but some of the concepts in detective move could've had more hints - particularly to solve the riddles.
