Pretty, well produced, good controls but so darn BORING!
My impression over and over and over again while playing Batman Arkham Asylum has been . . . B O R I N G.
I did a Google search for 'Batman Arkham Asylum Boring'...yep quite a few others have the same impression. It is very sad because the game is very well done otherwise, it is just missing true challenge and exciting action or puzzles and riddles with substance.
Again, I am not questioning the quality of this game because so many things are top notch and overall it is very, very good…it is just so darn boring and unchallenging. It is not even as good as watching a bad movie. It feels like there is a brass ring firmly attached to the player's nose as you are led through everything in the game, almost like a bad rail shooter. The Riddler's riddles seem to have been thrown in to give the game some badly needed content of interest and the Riddles are nothing more than things you find, not really solving a riddle to any great extent, just fluff.
General game play and what they call puzzles are way too easy and sadly caters to the Wii sort of crowd in that anyone can pick up and play this game…anyone. It is like playing a movie and just a little harder than pausing the remote control to go to the bathroom. Also, I have a Wii, many Wii games are more exciting.
I really love games for all consoles and the PC and I don't mean to bash any game they are a passion of mine and I know it is extremely hard to create a good game. I am frustrated because this game could have been so much better but is so diluted with boring tasks and easy action that I just have to say "Holy Cow Batman where is the fun...POW, WHAM, KAPOOF! it 's not here Robin".
