Card-based combat system makes for fun

Wow! This was one long game. Over 100 hours, maybe more. The graphics are very different from the usual Final Fantasy flavor that I'm used to, though the art style kindof grew on me a little, well done graphics definitely. CHEESY voiceovers! If the best thing about a game is its voiceovers, you would definitely skip this one. Sounds like these were done in a tin can by little kids. The story itself was kinda cheesy but no more so than the usual RPG. Save the world, blah, blah, blah. The fun factor in this game was definitely the card battles. As you progress, you acquire new cards with new spells or weapon attacks, from which you fashion a deck. You also collect things like ice and beef, eggs and wheat. If you combine the correct combinations of things, you'll acquire new healing items, etc. For instance, combining a young wasabi plant with dark spell level 1, yielded a wasabi root, that gave a good amount of healing. You can further combine that with water to produce the deluxe wasabi root, which is even better. All the cards have small clues as to the correct combinations in the flavor text. It was a very innovative system that really made the game for me.
