Bastions voice is so funny. They have him as an anouncer for Dota2 and I was so confused by his gruffness. I already like this character. I think I will buying this soon.

oh its not his voice? Just a mysterious narrator? hermm... I guess it makes more sense at least.

Comes with the current Humble Bundle 5 if you pay above the average price.

Would have never played it if not for the HIB, but I really started liking it! Great game.

One of the best game I've ever played. I loved every aspect of it and the tales it had to tell. This review is also fantastic and extremely accurate, I must say this is one of the best game reviews I've seen on this site, for Bastion, and even in general. Great job!

He didn't mention the music, I only played the trial and I love the music, it adds a lot to the atmosphere.

This game is half off (600 MP) on Xbox live today only (dec. 20)! Its the first game on sale in their "countdown to 2012 sale".

The games story isn't spectacular but the game play keeps you intrigued. The different kinds of weapons and what they do will keep you invested for hours. The narrators voice and topics I just love. But for 15$ totally worth the money. If you like this kind of game you will enjoy it.

If you happen to be reading this around Nov 2 and have a decent PC, Bastion is half off on Steam for $7.49. Just thought I'd pass that along since it's quite a striking game (I have the 360 version).

Don't get me wrong, just beat it for the second time... but I kept feeling that it could have been better in several different ways. Still, pretty good game.

Looks like a combination between Diablo and Zelda, and those being great games, I think this one will be also good.

I gotta admit, from a PS3 fan, Xbox live consistently gets the kick a** arcade games first!! The art in this looks beyond incredible. Note to PSN,.. get on this!

I have played many a game in my time, but this....this is something special. Possibly my new favorite game. Well at least in the top 3.

@Nodashi I'd say it's more like 99% of the people play shooters. They just miss out on other great games. I get your point though, good point.

It will be on PSN a year from now. Just like LIMBO, and Braid before that.

@LustForSoul I don't mean Bastion is an old looking game. I mean it's obviously inpired in those games, games called by those who played them "the golden era of videogames". Even Supergiant puts it quite obviously: " Supergiant Games is a small developer with big ambitions: to make games that spark your imagination like the games you played as a kid." If they can make youngsters understand why this kind of game is great, it's obviously a good thing. But all my posts take into account the fact that you originally said Bastion combat is "more of the same" in an era 99% of the games are shooters :)

LustForSoul
LustForSoul

@Nodashi I guess you grew up, and I mean within your teen years, with those older games. I played on the Sega Masters (I think it was called) at a young age but jumped to SNES, N64 and PS1 within a few years. I'm guessing that's what you mean but I honestly don't think that can be compared to Bastion. Bastion still has sort of decent graphics and voice acting. Nothing like older games. Oldies might be attracted but youngsters can equally like it.

The writing in this game is unparalleled. That alone is a must buy.

Bias? You need only look at other sites' reviews for this game to see that gamespot clearly did not give the makers any extra credit.

Nodashi
Nodashi

@LustForSoul Also, about modern games being better on all areas, this simply ain't true. Graphics aside, the game industry just didn't evolve a lot. If you play a game like Planescape: Torment you'll see (again, ignoring graphics) that those ancient games are more open, have incredible story, are HUGE, etc. Of course, I like graphical sweet myself too. But fact is, with the huge budgets from today, very few devs can accept the risks of making really creative games that move the genre towards. That's how money works, the more you're investing, less risks are acceptable.

Nodashi

@LustForSoul Age has to do whith what memories each one is fond of. While there's nothing wrong with shooters, the mechanics are beaten to death, and still you think it's ok. On the other hand, you say this game "is like every other"... see? Like every other non-shooter? Then it's very rare by today standards! You think the "normal" of your generation is ok, while the "normal" of mine is not. It's how every generation work, and that's why age has a lot to do with it.

All the people saying this review might be bias due to gamespot association: are you not being biased towards the review and reviewer because you made an assumption regarding the bias of said reviewer? Hmm? I for one was excited about this game since E3. Looked brilliant! Glad to see all the positive reviews and amazing metacritic score!! (metacritic can't be bias; try debunking THAT score!)

LustForSoul

@ilikepandas I just can't take Arcade games seriously I guess. They remind me of simple flash games. I'll play Bayonetta over Bastion any time. @Nodashi What does age have to do with it? I'm pretty sure most of the players will be youngsters. My dad actually owned a Snes and even an older Sega, both of which I gladly played on when I was little. Modern games might 'just shoot away' too, they do it so on a bigger scale in pretty much all areas. My thoughts of course...
