Just an unbelieavbly good RPG

I first played this when I was about 10 or 11, obviously at the time I had little knowledge of video games or indeed RPGs, but I played about half of it, thought it was fairly good and moved on. Having come back to it recently (I bought the four in 1 edition) i'd forgotten just what a piece of genius this game is.

Incredibly, the start of the game is genius with Winthrop providing the greatest of all opening phrases "My hotel's as clean as an elven arse". From there, right up until the final boss battle with the Lord of alll evil, the game provides so many plot twists, character interactions, memorable battles, thrills and spills that you realise you need to sleep 8 hours ago.

The interface, admittedly, suffers on new computers; I found myself downloading EasyTutu to increase the resolution and provide a more manegable interface. Also, character conversations are'nt as enjoyable as BG2, especially Imoen who seems totally mute throughout the game. These, however, are but minor quirks.

Add to this lengthy storyline that you can play online with your friends, and the expansion pack adds more and more time on, you'll find many hours of your life sucked up by BG, but it doesn't matter. The game is that good, you'll look back and see how well thsoe hours have been used.
