I have the Original Saga. My Dad bought it 9 years ago. He made me a copy of it with his CD Burner.
I have version 1.3.5521 with NO patches OR mods.
I have heard that items with a blue shade on them were released in a patch after the first BG was released. It must already have this patch when you buy the Original Saga because my copy has this.
My question is, where can I identify my items that are blue? I'm in Beregost right now and I've yet to figure this out.
NOTE: I would also like to know how to raise Imoen's Pick Lock Thief Skill this early in the game. It's only 25%. I couldn't pick the lock on anything in Friendly Arms Inn and so far I can't open anything in Beregost either.
Help?

Some temples or merchants have the [ ? ] option next to bartering menu. They can't always identify everything, though. Depends on their lore level.
If you have a character with a high Lore (bards have the most, followed by I believe mages, altered by INT and WIS), you can automatically identify things by right clicking it.
Otherwise, you have to cast the spell Identify on it, either from a mage's memorized spell list, or from a Scroll of Identify.

That merchants being unable to identify things is the result of a mod (specifically the BG1 tweak pack from Gibberlings3). In the vanilla game any merchant who has the ? (identify) option can identify absolutely anything. The service costs 100 gold.

Good to know. Haven't played vanilla in a while. :p
The rest stands.
I hope.

Do enough quests to make her level up, then spend points on the skill, or try your best to find a potion of power or potion of master thievery which will termporarily boost it.
There's at least a few thousand XP worth of easy quests/enemies to be found in/around Beregost and, IIRC, thieves level up fairly quickly.
