One of the Best RPG games ever, recommended even for Today's gamers. Still has some slight problems though.
I have played BG2 with G3's Fixpack, G3's Tweakpack, G3's High Resolution mod and the latest Official BG2 patches. I haven't finished the entire game yet.
I'm gonna keep this short and simple, Baldur's Gate 2 is a masterpiece of an RPG. It's one of my favourites. I picked this up recently, and I still like it, even though it is less than a decade old. Nothing literally matches up to the gameplay and depth of BG2.
Pros:
Beautiful 2d textures and graphics, you will actually be satisfied with the graphics (MOSTLY)
Some nice 3d effects
Deep roleplaying
Tons of content and hours of gameplay
Nice animations
Good presentation
Addictive gameplay
Musical score and loads of voice acting
Interesting plot and characters
QUITE a lot of skills and classes
Overall, NEARLY everything you would want from a D&D rpg
Cons:
A somewhat mediocre user interface
Unbalanced classes
No main map
Some ugly textures/graphics, especially in towns (Figures, NPCs and environment)
Camera can't move diagonally
D&D v2 rules
Can MAYBE get repetitive later in the game (only by the slightest bit, but hey, this is purely just an RPG, it's not supposed to be anything else)
Just buy the game and its expansion, TOB. Don't forget to get the fantastic mods for this game.
