    Pretty much topic.

I considered myself a pro at RPG's but find myself constantly reloading and visiting Temples to revive characters. I have only played the first 10 hours or so of the game but I'm wondering if at any point this game will get a little easier?

Nah. You *will* die a lot in this game. Mostly against traps and unfavorable dice rolls. Even having high AC won't save your tank from getting mangled up eventually.

As long as you take it slow and try to pull one enemy at a time instead of the whole group, you should do alright for the most part. Also, learning how best to counter enemy mage spells is a must, too... For example, you're going to find it really frustrating if your party keeps running in fear due to a lack of Protection vs. Fear spells on hand.

    Of course it gets easier

Once you know what you're doing the game becomes ridiculously easy

Well, that was an informative post, if this were real life I'd buy you a pint. Thanks for being so helpful.

It's damn hard at the beginning, and death is incredibly common. When you start to understand the relative strengths and weaknesses of enemies then it becomes easier to deal with them.
The best beginner tactic is to keep enemies at range, regardless of how much proficiency you have with a ranged weapon, that little bit of damage you can inflict will help a lot, and continue to do so as you get better ammo for better foes.

What specifically are you having trouble with? It does suck having to trek to temples after every few battles, but you will become a lot more self-sustaining eventually. Don't underestimate the use of potions either. It's very rare that you *need* a certain potion for a certain situation (with the exception of thief buffs and elemental resistance), so you'll soon find that your store of potions is growing massive, should you be keeping one. Buffing attack rolls, damage, any combat stats basically, will help immensely when facing tough situations.

Number crunching will also give you many little bonus'. It should have stat/progression/spell tables in the manual. Pay attention to your character sheet when you change equipment. Whilst all items do what they say, depending on your race or weapon skills there can be things you'll only notice when you look at your thac0 and damage. Just because your AC doesn't change, doesn't mean you don't have extra 'hidden' AC for piercing, blunt etc, which is displayed lower down in your stat sheet.

Or, you could lower the difficulty and mess around with whatever you want.

Haven't tried enhanced edition, but the game is SUPER easy if played in the right linear order. This is old school "do side quests" game, where getting a few key items and some levels under your belt REALLY helps. Protect your mages, have healers healing, and healing potions on everyone, and backstab enemy mages. The rest is up to how you play.
