You can look at this game two ways: more of the same, or the game Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance SHOULD have been in the first place. I take the latter.

While it is just the same hack and slash action once again. Character advancement and customization is a lot more fun. It isn't PURELY hack and slash this time. You feel like you can make a character that is a little more unique. Play styles can vary a lot more than the first one. It's not a LOT of customization, but it's far more than the first game.

The bottom line is, if you haven't played either of these games, and you want to try it out, try the second one. It just offers more to you. You'll miss out on some stuff, but it hardly matters because the whole point is pretty much just to smash things.

If you don't like smashing things with friends, maybe you won't like this game.

    Makes for a worthy sequel at the least.
