Complete opposite of Madden: lack of depth, but excellent core gameplay

User Rating: 8 | Backbreaker X360
When you pop in the game, The graphics are immediately eye popping. People can complain about the Player Models all they want and the camera all they want, but I personally think they give Backbreaker a unique, one of a kind feel. The passing game is very good, but minor bugs in recievers not catching the ball and too many overthrows/sacks/ints being the reasons its not great. The running game is outstanding. Its extremely satisfying to read your blocks and make a great run. Blocking works pretty well for the most part and running is really fun.

Defense, in my opinion, is the best part. I have never been so satisfied to play defense. Every time I make a play, it feels great. The camera once again I think adds to the experience and makes the game truly authentic.

The reason this game only gets an 8 is because lack of depth. There are only 5 formations on offense, and you can't run a 3-4 style defense because there isn't a nickel 3-3 or a dime 3-2. Also, lack of hot routes, pre-snap motion, injuries, and fatigue take a bit away from the game

Overall, an excellent on the field game. Very steep learning curve though. Its the perfect blend of strategy and skills. Oh and by the way, Euphoria is amazing. Backbreaker seems very similar to NBA 2k10: a very solid game at release, and after the first patch, amazing.
