Great Scott! This game is horrible.

User Rating: 1 | Back to the Future NES
PROS: They got the DeLorean part right

CONS: Graphics look terrible and undetailed, music is repetitive and annoying, controls are delayed, barely follows the movie, the fact that this game is called Back to the Future and bears its license

Movie licensed games tended to be hit and miss. While some are good, a majority of them are colossal failures that seem to mock the movie it's based on. Back to the Future is one of those failures. Everything about this game is wrong, from the beginning to the end, the game fails. The game follows the movie very loosely (lot of emphasis on the word loosely) as Marty, you have to go through the events of the movie and get back to your time line before you are trapped forever. Most of the game involves walking through Hill Valley and you have to collect clocks to get more time. Along the way, you deal with bullies, hula hoop girls, guys with windows, and of all thing bees. The problems begin with the fact that most of the game is overhead and the graphics are so undetailed that it's hard to tell what's an obstacle most of the time, and Marty looks nothing like his movie character. The music is even worse, it's just the title theme that keeps looping again and again and it feels like an ice pick that's being jammed into your ear. The controls are really delayed, Marty jumps 2 seconds after pressing the button and attacking is just as delayed if not worse. The only part of the game that the game got right was the DeLorean and while I do find it ridiculous to dodge lightening , it's challenging, but that's not enough to save this game. Back to the Future is just further proof that most movie licensed games don't work and you are better off avoiding this game, it's a waste of time and an insult to a great movie.
