What it lacks in style, it makes up for in substance.

User Rating: 8.5 | Back to the Future: The Game - Episode I: It's About Time PS3
The first thing I noticed when I started this game is how underwhelming the visuals are. In fact, the graphics and animation are last gen at best. The controls, though of little importance here, are clunky at best. However, every other aspect of the game is SUPERB. The voice acting is exceptional, each character has their own identity. But most importantly, the gameplay is spot-on for this type of game. If you've ever played a game like Maniac Mansion or Sam and Max, this game follows the formula perfectly. The object of the game is to interact with the story being played out in front of you, and finding ways to complete goals to keep things moving along. While that may sound bland, it's surprisingly fun, and I played all of episode 1 in a single sitting.

The real value of this game is to fans of the original movie trilogy. The story isn't a rehash of the movies, it's a continuation. The original team behind the movies helped make the game, and the story is officially canon to the movies. So that means that if there were a Back To The Future part 4, this would be it. There's still 4 more episodes to go, but so far so good.

So again, if you like games like Zork, or Maniac Mansion, or Sam and Max, you'll want to grab this one too, it's completely worth it.
