Amazing story, horrible gameplay and mechanics.

User Rating: 7 | Back to the Future: The Game - Episode I: It's About Time PC
As some of you might have heard. Back to the future the game was released a mere few hours ago. The game will be released in five parts, and I have complete that first of the five stories.

Graphics: 7/10
Let's face it. It doesn't always take good graphics to make a good game. In this game the graphics were actually really decent. Nothing life like, but still keeps the look and feel of BTTF with a cartoon twist.

Story: 10/10
The story of the game is what you would expect BTTF to be. The beginning completely throws you off with an insane continuation with a few twist here and there. Like how the De Lorean reappeared after being destroyed by the train. As well as meeting new characters this time, but still keeping the characters related to the previous movies. In more way than one.

gameplay: 3/10
Even though the story is amazing and keeps true to its roots, the game play can use a lot of work. One of the first issues you see in the game is, even though it's an open map, there is no free roaming. It's more like a 3d side scroller letting you choose things to interact with. The camera stays in one position the entire time really making it hard to find things around you. putting controls aside this game becomes tedious and boring. It gets frustrating sometimes when you don't know what to click and it's almost impossible to know whats going on unless you use the hints. Your main objective is to talk to characters and convince them to do your will using multiple choice, and that's it. There is only one correct path and no consequences. Only the agony of having to repeat talking to the character if you mess up. There really is no rush to the game until the end of the first chapter.

sound: 8/10
The sounds are nostalgic. Even though they couldn't get Micheal J, Fox to do the voice the new kid (A.J. Locascio) pulled it off extremely well. Watching the De Lorean going to 88MPH when you start the game just takes you away.

So in conclusion. The game stays true to the BTTF franchise and the story is a great piece of work. Although that's the case the game play is repetitive and drags out. Sometimes you find yourself doing the correct thing but nothing happening until you talk to another character, and then searching for a while for different things until you try it again and realize it worked this time. All in all the gameplay really makes you not want to play the game at times but the story is just so good that it pulls you in with a big "I can't wait" when you see the classic BTTF "To Be Continued."
