Good ol' fashioned giant robots tearing up the city!...I thought it would've been longer...

Everybody loves a good old fashioned monster/alien/robot rampage. The destruction, the screaming, the mayhem, and most of all, the pitiful human resistance sending their primitive war machine to their pending doom! MWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!!

...Sorry.

Attack of the 50ft Robot! seems to capture the essence of this genre perfectly. And not only is it 50ft, it's from the 50's as well. The small touches such as the overly simplistic robot design, the cheesy speakeasy jazz music, and the black and white film grain over the top, give this game a beautiful depiction of what it would look like if Lego Town was ravaged by a Dalek on legs. Where's Doctor Who when you need him?

The storyline (yes, there is one) is incredibly short. You'll find yourself after 20 minutes saying "...what?". But for a free game, you're definitely getting a bargain, and fortunately there is a free roam option, allowing you to spend hours upon hours (well, until you're killed by Earth's petty minions) bringing down swift robot fury upon the unsuspecting civilians...not that there ARE any, I think they all went on holiday just as you show up.

All in all, there is much enjoyment to be had in this silly little game. It's well put together, the music and sound effects are quite charming, and thanks to NVidia PhysX, buildings fall down as realistically as possible. In my opinion, DigiPen is giving a lot more than what you pay nothing for here (golly, I crack me up).
