Disappointing. Play it only to kill time.

User Rating: 5.5 | Iris no Atelier: Grand Fantasm PS2
I liked Atelier Iris(AI): Eternal Mana. I didn't play AI2, so I can't compare it with AI3.

GRAPHICS:
The game graphics are as cheery as always, and yes, I like that.

STORY:
The story is bad. Seriously. The character, Iris has a book which grant all wishes, but she doesn't know what kind of wish does she wants granted, yet, she decided to go on a quest and find a wish? I don't know how to put it, but to me, it sounds really dumb to go in pursue of something which you haven't even thought of? Well, LUCKILY, in the middle of the game, an antagonist, Crowley, finally puts a curse on her, and well, she's going to use the book to save her life! But, at the later part of the game, the book must be used to save the world! Oh no! Her life?! Or the world?! Tadah! Heroes/heroines always chose to forsake themselves. Luckily, there was characterization in the story of the characters, which is good, because Iris showed her fear of dying.

Btw, Crowley's objective in the game is only for the god of destruction to survive. Why? No one knows! How interesting.

GAMEPLAY STRUCTURE:
The different dimension thing and the time limit is interesting, because it offers a certain excitment, but it's pretty irritating when you have to go back to the world, and back again to the world when you are near your objective.

The fighting turn based style is as usual. I can't really complain about that because, come on, how many styles are there out there now? It's hard to create a new one, and if they change it to FF-12's fight structure, people will say there are copying? Come on, give them time for an evolution!

The monsters are also not hard to fight. Also, there's a quick way to end this game if you like, just fnish those quests which rewards quest points. For every level you up, it will move on to a mission then a new chapter.

Anyway, this is a game to kill time. So, yeah, enjoy killing it! ;)

P.s: Watch the animation before the start of the game. It's really good. Give them credit for that. ;)
