I'm not going to bash the game in every sort of way because, despite the several flaws, I still enjoy playing the game. Most of the reviews about this game points out the same issues: graphics, physics, AI and the ridiculously large gaming environment which will send you into boredom.
Instead of going over all of the issues listed above, I'm only going to let you know of my experience playing the game, notably touching on the last issue mentioned in my last paragraph: the vast open world.
Most of you will find that the races do not take very long to complete, in fact, they're all pretty easy compared to some racers. So you won't find it an issue to complete all races in the first camp before you have to hit the road for your second camp and sets of races. I might have missed it but I did not find any indication of which camp we should be heading next for further completion of the game, so I set out to a camp on the north of the map to work my way down and complete every races. This is where I nearly threw my controller out the window. Whilst it was to ride up the new camp, it was long and sometime tedious. I had an encounter with an invisible truck which crushed my vehicle and then appeared on screen, very annoying but anyway, I said I wouldn't spend time on these issues as they have been covered through and through by professional reviews. So I reached the other camp after a solid 20 minutes drive, only to be told that I did not have enough stars to compete in their races!! Again, maybe I went wrong somewhere but this experience was frustrating to say the least.
Anyway, there could be a long list of complaints concerning this game. But saying this, it is still fun to play at parts. So, for the time being, I will score the game 6 out of ten. I will come back to this review once I have completed more races.
Ok, played the game some more and it was my bad, or my lack of reading manuals before I play *blush*. Anyway, the game does tell you how many stars are required before unlocking the next camp. I just didn't really pay attention. Never the less, it is still very tedious. Further stars can be unlocked by doing more races within the camp you start in, you just got to find them first.
I think the makers of this game have probably been over excited at the size of the game they have managed to create leaving precious details behind. Given the scale of the game, it is hard for the player to find every races in a camp, all vista points, all liveries, etc... And I can only imagine this gets harder and harder as you complete further camps. So, in that respect, I am moving the difficulty marker of the game from "easy" to "hard". Please note that the races are still easy, what I call hard or rather tedious is the unlocking process of this game. Score remains unchanged 06/10.
