Because Monkey Island are great games. Guybrush is a better pirate than any other pirate in history. He is a Mighty Pirate.

@kljhkll Maybe because Monkey Island was a freaking awesome franchise!? I mean, honestly, they were a hell of a lot more challenging and fulfilling than most recent games. A game doesn't need to be new to be good or relevant. I quite enjoyed the reference! Guybrush is possibly the COOLEST PIRATE EVER!

What about a modern pirate setting for AC? Ubisoft could have a Somalian pirate character raiding ships, shooting old people on cruises, holding out for million dollar ransoms, and being chased by US naval ships (they are the Templars of course following on from AC:USA).

@archav3n Hehe, I was playing games long before those came out... I remember them fondly but also remember lots more before them. :) I guess you aren't old enough to remember the original text adventures by Scott Adams I first played on the TI99/4A. (A computer before the C64)

Monkey Island was one of my favourite Lucasarts games, but my absolute fave was Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. :)
