My first game for PS4 and I am hooked. While AC 4 has a somewhat bland story, the gameplay makes the plot itself more enjoyable. Sailing around in your pirate ship is great fun and fire fights on the sea are a thrill. The controls of the ship take some getting used to but it becomes very fluid and enjoyable quickly. Edward is an interesting character to play as, a pirate who has taken on the role of an assassin. He knows all of the right moves already, due to his life as a pirate, which would actually be a slightly more interesting tale then the main story. The graphics of the game are absolutely stunning on the PS4. The water is as realistic as you can get and the detail of the character models is superb. The land gameplay is basically the same formula as the past AC games but its fluid performance keeps you feeling like an epic assassin. Hiding in bushes and luring your foes into traps is as fun as it ever was. One issue I had with the controls was that they were very sticky at times, limiting movement (tended to happen in tight situations). AC 4 is a fantastic sequel in the series that will grab new fans and hook old fans to the series.
THE GOOD:
1. Pirate ships are great fun as well as the fire fights you have in them
2. The graphics are stunning
3. Huge open world with lots to do
4. Core gameplay is still just as fun
5. Lots of side activities like harpooning and crafting
THE BAD:
1. A somewhat bland story
2. Sticky controls at times
3. Edwards character could have been explored in a different way
