The creator of Assassin's Creed has come back to Ubisoft. No word on whether or not he'll work on AC again, but does this give you any hopes or nervousness about the direction of the series?

I think its too late for any of his direction. I mean, it's been what, 2, 3 years since he left for THQ Montreal, with four games (including Black Flag) already having different CDs other than him. I think they'll definitely have him involved in the project somehow (unless he declines, which I could see happening).

But just for the fact that he's been away for so long, and that he may be biting his tongue for the people that have being (essentially) playing around with "his" creation, I don't really see how he can put any of that direction back into the series. At least not for now.

Edit: Not to mention that fact that ACIV is being developed by 8 Ubi studios, whereas most of the other games (though they did include a collaboration of some studios), Montreal had the lead, where Desilets had (quote-un-quote) creative control...

He had already written the entire modern plot out before he left. They knew how it was going to end before AC2 hit beta (bug testing) stage. The question is, did they stick to it?

If Bioware didn't stick to their main plot, I doubt Ubisoft did as well but I'm open to being surprised.
