I'd rather you rent this game than just wasting your money.

User Rating: 7.5 | Assassin's Creed III PS3
Assassin's Creed 3 was one of the most highly anticipated games of 2012. I had bought it on the first day and I regret it. I wish I would've just rented it instead and in this review I will tell why AC III is a bargain bin filler.

Let's start with the part of the game that is the best... the graphics. AC III's graphics are amazing. It has no texture problems and even going full speed in the high speeds on the blue sea looks amazing. The only problem with the graphics are land pop ins. Don't blame them for that though because Ubisoft pushed the envelope and it worked.

Now let's talk about the gameplay. I feel this AC game has less sneaking assassinations and more of a fight up in personal. Personally, I don't like this but other people love it so I didn't dock any points for that. I think hunting could have been more thought out. All you do is shoot (or stab) and skin. One thing I can't stand about the game is the crafting. It is very restrictive until you take interest in the homestead missions. The homestead missions are probably the best part of the game. It goes in depth in the lives of your village.

Now let's talk about the worst part of the game. The story. This part of the games was a hair pulling experience. This is what was supposed to be good about it. Not once did Ubisoft say you are going to spend 10 to 14 hours playing as his father. I hated that. Connor's father is Haytham Kenway. He feels clunky and just unbalanced. When you finally play as Connor, you barely have an impact on the war. The trailers, the interviews, everything made it seem you would be a huge impact on the war when you only spend one sequence truly in war. Then there are the Desmond missions. They are an improvement from Revelations, but still feel "added on" and not needed. The game didn't really need the whole animus part of it. The story is a major drawback.

Multiplayer has been improved with more game modes. The big thing though is more customization. You can customized just more than an emblem. You can customize the color of clothing and even face paint. It is a fun experience and will last you a while.

Overall, AC III is an okay game. The graphics are the highlight of the game and the gameplay will tick off some and inflate others will pure happiness. The story will be disappointing and only die hard fans will look past that. I give the game a 7.0 with the major drawback of the rating is the story. Many people will think this is a little drastic but it makes sense when the game's main base is its story.
