Ubisoft makes up for Battle of Forli with an incredible DLC bargain & a PERFECT ending

User Rating: 10 | Assassin's Creed II: Bonfire of the Vanities PS3
My review of Battle of Forli noted that it SHOULD have been included with Bonfire of the Vanities. I stand by that because you NEED Forli to fully get Bonfire, but any shortcomings of Forli are more than made up for by this EXCELLENT DLC addition.

Price Point-wise this is a bargain. At 4.99 you get tons of quality content in comparison to its lackluster predecessor.

Bonfire of the Vanities picks right up where Forli ought not to have left off but, unlike Forli, you can expect actual assassinations to occur in this one: 10 to be exact. Each mission is complex, often requiring you to hit your target in pure stealth or fail. This mechanic was fairly rare in the main game and its inclusion here ups the difficulty in a very satisfying way.

It adds a new mechanic of a springboard jump. A fairly simple affair that flows with your normal parkour. Also added is a new area of Florence to explore.

The story continues what Forli started, a piece of real history with a fictional twist. It's a pretty tight narrative that excels in making you feel like a master assassin. However the ending of Bonfire, which appears to be the final ending of Assassin's Creed 2, is PERFECT. I cannot express how fitting and realistically moving Ezio's final speech is. It was a stand-up-and-cheer moment that put a fitting end on a fantastic game.

If you own AC2 then you simply MUST download BOTH of these DLC titles. With a total cost under 9 dollars it is a true value.
