Racing is Fun again for the DS

User Rating: 8.1 | Asphalt: Urban GT DS
Ashpalt: Urban GT is like most other racing games, but it makes for such a great hand-held experience that you won't want to stop playing. There are many cars to unlock in this game and they all feature under the hood and some visual customization.

Each car in the game is unique. Only certain cars can have certain parts and each car runs differently on the track. Some body/visual upgrades can be bought for your car and each car has its own look depending on the manufacturer and the way the car looks in default stock.

Ashpalt features decent visuals and fair sound, but the gameplay is where it's at. It's a lot of fun to go fast and even more fun to push your car over its limits with the turbo boost. One bush of a button can launch your car past the competition. This really is a great game once you get into it. Cars vary from nissan to Lamborghini, and each one had its own unique style and handling.

Gameplay: Gameplay is absolutely amazing for a hand-held racing game. Never have you felt like you're going so fast.

Graphics: The resolution definitely could've been better. The developers seemed to underestimate the DS. Besides that point, everything is widely detailed and how they should be. The coolest part is probably that you can turn your headlights on and off.

Sound: Worst part of the game. Cars sound very bad but what does sound good is when cars pass by you or when you hit something. Some of the songs are alright, there's only one I like.

Value: Its a long and hard game and there are plenty of things to do. There are a few unlockable cars (see very bottom for some car unlockables. *SPOILERS*) Multiplayer puts your cars to the test and is very fun.

Tilt: Best racing game for the DS. 10.

Overall: Ashpalt: Urban GT rises above other DS racing games and gives an action-packed thrill-ride.
