Asphalt GT is a credit to Urban Racing and now available at a budget price

User Rating: 7.5 | Asphalt: Urban GT DS
Apshalt is another Urban style nitrous and adrenaline filled racer on the market. The only difference of this compared to the others in the market though is its concentrated on handhelds rather then the current-gen consoles.

Asphalt was first targeted as a mobile game then changed to an N-Gadge game, And yep a Nintendo DS game. The only real difference in the port is touch screen cababilities even if their not very creative it is used better then other racers and even then not necessary.

Most of the racing is done by the controls and is entertaining to an amount which is acceptable seeing as Asphalts developers have supposily studied what other racers contained and siginified them they just add them in development. Like the on coming traffic seen in Burnout or the nitrous used in Need for Speed.

Asphalt has also gone for a mixture of tracks and styles like rally or GT including some street tracks. Speaking of styles, Apshalt's evoloution mode allows the player to modifiy his\her car to increase speed, reduce weight and give a paint job.The only problem with this however is that they're all rather flawed and the ideas just don't mix well with the race.

The incoming traffic can't actually crash into your car, It just collides and stops you for almost 10 seconds. While the ideas are good they were not executed the way I hoped. Asphalt has some decent graphics here and there in the game, the cars are detailed and the levels have interesting designs.

Yet, it's only the cars that actually look unique graphically speaking and the props track textures and models are smudged and murky, the thing that suffers this the most sadly is the Eifel Tower. Maybe the developers hate France maybe not, but it looks bad.

That just makes me add that maybe the music needs a little adjusting. Its not even rap, its bizzare techno and a strange annoucer. Engine sounds too are so-so mind, its just the "vroom-vroom" sort of thing to accept. As for lengh Asphalt is quite long adding both the Arcade and Evoloutions value. Theirs lots of cars to unlock and stratagies to discover.

Asphalt is indeed a worthy purchase and may now be available at a budget price
