Arx Fatalis is one to own if you can still find it. One of the best atmosphere?s of any RPG I?ve played in the last few years. The story is immersive, the graphics are very sharp and the sound is good. It reminds me of the Ultima Underworld series. The game is heavier on puzzles than character development, but has a good bit of that too. The spell interface is novel, but frustrating when in combat. Though for some these may be viewed as minor faults, they are trivial compared to the many benefits of the game, including the atmosphere, interesting story with depth, and the way that NPCs react to you (such as when some cringe and cower and try to run away when you?ve almost beaten them in a fight). You will not regret purchasing this title.
