You Don't Know Jack to be Kinect-compatible - Retail Radar

GameStop lists THQ's revival of smart-alecky quiz game will support Xbox 360's motion-sensing system.

Gamers debating whether or not to scoop up Kinect now have one more reason to do so. According to GameStop's launch center for the motion-sensing system, the revival of the smart-alecky quiz game You Don't Know Jack will support the Xbox 360's new peripheral. The game is also in development for the PlayStation 3 and Wii and will be published by THQ.

The Xbox 360 edition of You Don't Know Jack will support Kinect.

Little else is know about You Don't Know Jack, which was first published in the 1990s by Berkeley Systems. The quiz game was popular for its host's irreverent comments and insulting answers, so much so that it spawned a short-lived television series in 2001 hosted by Paul Ruebens (aka Pee-Wee Hermann).

However, the game is being listed with a $40 price point by GameStop. The retailer also has it as shipping on January 25, 2011, putting it outside the launch window for Kinect, which goes on sale November 4 in the US and November 10 in the UK.

I just thought about this game the other day and tried to find it but lost or sold it I guess. :(

@tomcrole First, I was making an obvious joke about the device and pointing out the fact that Kinect is essentially an upgraded/updated Eye Toy. There is nothing really all that new when considering the Kinect, try an old Eye Toy and you can get a feel for whether or not the Kinect is for you. The shooters coming out for it will suffer like the first shooters did on Wii prior to the Wii Zapper, by placing both controllers in one unit instead of the player holding out is arms, as arms can get tired while holding them without anything being held or by holding controllers up seperately. Even writing an article regarding a trivia game like You Dont Know Jack using Kinect is kind of pointless as this will not be a swaying factor for players to buy a Kinect.

lol I thought they were talking about the HBO movie on Jack Krevorkian. That would make a *really* easy game.

If it can still be played with a controller I'm still in if not...well I'm cashing "You Don't Know Jack" out........

The original series is the only game I can recall that gave the impression you were on a real game show playing against your friends. The games were fun and often quite tough, with some quirky rules, but the voice acting of the host really made it shine. It's nice to see a potential revival.

I bet it'll be used for facial recognition, so when you boot the game up for a second time, Cookie can go "Oh hey, it's YOU again! Are you sure you want to play again after you bombed horribly last time among your fellow friends?"

I would hate for Kinect games to offer any kind of depth.

Perhaps so many skeptics about Kinect will cease. Game trailers site on its so called screw attack show considered Kinect as the biggest failure in E3??!!! More core games coming to this breakthrough in gaming will be the answer for those critic voices.

I am glad this game is coming back, I used to play it a lot on the psx. If this game is your deciding factor on whether or not to get the Sony Eye Toy upgrade, oops I mean the Kinect. Then you are probably hopeless.

If anybody played the original you remember you can screw your opponent. With the kinnect does that mean I have to take out my ****?

Though I could really care less about the Kinect-ability of it, the News Title SHOULD have read: THQ TO MAKE NEW YOU DON'T KNOW JACK GAME. That is all that I care about. Man, I loved those games, and it's awesome that there's going to be another one! Hell yeah!

One of my favorite game series. I hope the game is good and they make a PC version. Maybe the best trivia games of all time.

I don't get how this is supposed to enhance the experience in any way, but I honestly don't know if I care or not. It's optional, and besides that it's a new YDKJ game.

I never heard of the original game before so when I saw the title I was thinking about HBO movie lol.

Man you guys just look for reasons to bash Kinect. I agree microsoft has a lot to prove with this device and it is a risky move. But seriously, why the hate? A title like you don't know jack, which was a great game for it's time and could be awesome even still would be perfect for kinect. I would agree that making it kinect compatible is hardly a selling point, but more over a game as simple as that -not- being kinect compatible would just be silly. Seriously, you guys seem to hate the kinect. Is this some sort of conformity thing? If the kinect sucks microsoft will pay through the wallet (The only place they care). If it rocks, well you'll probably magically 'forget' you hated it before you loved it.

I guess the appeal to using the Kinect with this is to be able to "physically" touch their answer on the screen instead of selecting and/or pressing a button on your controller. I guess that makes it cooler? Right? Anyone? Echo....LOL

Hmm...I could picture having to raise your hand to buzz in with an answer. But which motion would you do to screw someone? Heh heh... Jokes aside, You Don't Know Jack was pretty awesome back in the day. Good to see it coming back.
