You Can Watch Sony's E3 Press Conference in a Movie Theater

Sony announces special partnership with more than 40 theaters across the US and Canada allowing you to watch the show on the big screen.

Sony's E3 2014 press conference will be broadcast live at more than 40 movie theaters across the United States and Canada, the company announced today. It's all part of Sony's "PlayStation E3 Experience," a special program that also includes 30 minutes of extra content like extended game footage and interviews with developers. Video game journalist Geoff Keighley will host the bonus coverage.

In addition, attendees might also take home special gifts, Sony said. Sony's E3 2014 press conference starts at 6 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 9.

The PlayStation E3 Experience is free, but Sony warns that space is limited. You can register at this special website to reserve a spot in your theater of choice. If you don't live near one of the 40+ theaters listed below, not to worry, as GameSpot will carry a live stream of Sony's E3 2014 press conference, and you can also watch live on the PlayStation Blog if you want.

Of course NY is 'sold out', wish I wasn't so late on this.

Canada has only 3 locations :).  Expected but still funny.

Dang, none in my area.  The closest one would be the Orlando Stadium but thats like a 2 hr drive.

I got my tickets for the Orlando Stadium.

They must have a massive bomb to drop on Microsoft if they're going to this extent.

Thats cool that they want to do that, but honestly its pointless and a waste of money, your better off sitting at home watching the conference at full screen at your own house.

E3 isnt about sitting on stage to watch the conference, its to see the games at the conference.

I mean dont get me wrong, thats still awesome to give people the chance to experience, i wouldve gone if it was in a theater that isnt a 2 hour drive, but the experience itself should be the games, not watching the conference in a bigger screen. Look at Nintendo and the Best Buy Deal to actually play the E3 games to the public.

@hotdiddykong It's free! lol
Big screen and good sound, see more content, "attendees might also take home special gifts" being around gamers, maybe hangout afterwards and talk about E3/Games (be social)

- sounds nice to me anyway:)

One of the theaters are 4 minutes from my house. I'm going to see what lame gift they give us.

Seeing that the theater probably doesn't allow beer or liquor there I'll stay home.

That's kinda ironic. I mean all their "games" are movies, so I guess it makes sense.

I hope it's not as boring as last year. I kept nodding off and hit my face on the computer desk.

WHY WOULD I DO THIS WHEN I COULD JUST SIT AT HOME AND WATCH IT ON MY COMPUTER AND WATCH THAT ON MY TV???????????? FOR AN EXTRA 30 MINUTES OF STUFF THAT WILL BE ON THE INTERNET IN A MATTER OF HOURS NO THANK YOU. CAPS UNLOCKED. yeah

I know. Nintendo is probably gonna have a good showing.

If Nintendo was the king their sales would be better. The only thing keeping them afloat is the 3DS.

That's Ok I'll stay home and watch it at my own comfort. Besides Orlando and Miami is too far for me.

Mandrew257

Or I could just watch it from the comfort of my home, and save a few bucks.

Just give me Ape Escape 4. I've waited all last gen for it, and I'm still waiting.

Eeew!!! movie theaters are going to smell like Sony fanboys!!! Good thing! I wait for movies to come out on DVD!

Mr_Big_Boss

This reminds me of the Uncharted 3 AMC promotion I went to.

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Not a bad promotion. Sony probably gets the theaters at a discount due to their movie business tie ins and will get free publicity on the 5 o'clock news who are starving for young adult stories. That, and their fan base will be used as free advertising. There'll most likely be some sort of Cosplay most of those markets have never seen.

Although, if the Sony E3 rumors are true - It's still not enough to make me buy their systems. I've been fooled too many times with systems that stay dormant throughout their entire generation. Literally, three times now.

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Gee, what 3 Sony consoles could I possibly have owned...

jrcast84
jrcast84

@Sevenizz I agree this is a pretty good promotion and they may make it much more attractive as the days get closer to E3. But what three consoles have been dormant for you?

jrcast84
jrcast84

@Sevenizz Oh I didnt know you meant Sony consoles oh well. I dont know how the PS2 and 3 were dormant for you but that is all opinions so I will let it go.

tom2750
tom2750

@Sevenizz 3 had the best exclusives of it's gen so did 2 and 3's best looking games visually smashed anything on the 360

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Is that why multiplatform comparisons usually looked better on the 360? Interesting.

And 'better exclusives' is a matter of taste. So that resolution is irrelevant.

Beasley2K
Beasley2K

@Sevenizz With the biggest library of games, I don't know how you can possibly suggest that Sony's consoles have remained dormant. I agreed with you up until that point. I'm guessing you're one of those acquired taste kind of gamers that only plays niche games.

As was said, if the first 3 consoles weren't able to convince you of PlayStation's prowess, then I'd say there's no point having much hope of the 4th changing your mind.

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

My Sony history is a bit all over the place. I chose Saturn and Nintendo during the PS1 rein. I bought a PS1 around the time of Gran Tourismo 2 - loved that game. Never cared for the Crash Bandicoots or Spyros as Nintendo did platformers better. I got a PS2 when GT3 came out and was let down. They may as well have called it GT2 HD. I had an Xbox and in my opinion, did everything right. Ubisoft made amazing games for the original Xbox that didn't even compare on the PS2. Not to mention how weak the PS2 was online. The PS3 was given to me by a friend who obtained one in a police raid and didn't want to hassle with the paperwork. I bought a few games for it, but nothing stood out that great on it (I'm not a JRPG fan either). I was hyped for Heavy Rain but was really let down by how boring it was as a game. The timed button presses felt like busy work and it felt very 'point and click' adventure - another genre I don't care for.

Beasley2K
Beasley2K

@Sevenizz Hmm, well I'm sorry to hear about your seemingly lackluster experience. You only mentioned a couple of games on each system, and there's a whole wealth to choose from that you seemingly haven't touched on. With such a diverse library as the PS3's, I find it hard to believe that there's nothing on there that appeals to you, especially if you think the 360's selection is good. I suppose it's not for everyone and I can't try to force my opinion on you, I'm just surprised that someone struggles to find something on note on PS3 of all systems!

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Obviously I can't go into every detail here or I'd be writing a novel - those are just some lowlights that turned me off.

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of Sony systems.

CrusaderForever
CrusaderForever

@Sevenizz Your a strange one you know.  You rip Sony's universe a new blackhole upwards, downwards, sideways, round and round into other alternate Earth dimensions.  But still throw out the possibility that you may some day buy one of Sony's consoles.  If 3 Sony consoles couldn't do it for you and I am guessing they were PS1, PS2 and PS3 why the hell would you consider buying a PS4?

tendoboy1984
tendoboy1984

So out of thousands of games available on PS1, PS2, and PS3, you found absolutely nothing to play? A large majority of third-party games are multiplatform, so you're saying you prefer Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable over anything made by Sony?

Sevenizz
Sevenizz

Owning Xbox and Nintendo consoles made Sony irrelevant to me. Something about Sony exclusives just doesn't move me. And with Sony's current offerings on their 3 consoles, the trend is continuing.
