Yes, Those Bizarre Pauly Shore Pinocchio Videos Are Real

The iconic '90s actor has a new role in an animated movie, and his performance is fantastic.

On March 22, an animated movie titled Pinocchio: A True Story was released in the US. Originally a Russian film, the American version features voice actors like Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants, Mr. Show) as Geppetto, Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) as the talking horse Tibalt, and Pauly Shore (Encino Man, Class Act) as Pinocchio. Recently, videos have been popping up on Twitter from the movie, and while they are unbelievable, they're actually real.

The 2022 film follows the titular wooden boy as his father creates him and makes him come to life. From there, Pinocchio runs away to join the circus, where he learns that a cat and fox are robbing houses and Pinocchio becomes the prime suspect. He also falls in love with someone else in the circus. A trailer for the movie was released back in January, and even for a kid's movie, it's incredibly forgettable.

However, maybe we all shouldn't sleep on this movie? The clips getting posted on Twitter, so far, and incredibly wild. So, naturally, we had to buy it to find out how much of this ridiculous content is in the actual film. Yes, I own a copy of Pinocchio: A True Story now.

Pinocchio Gets Shot

Saberspark posted this brief clip featuring a cat shooting Pinocchio to his alleged death. Because of the quality of animation, there's no way this is real, right?

It's real. It happens 15 minutes and 40 seconds into the film. Obviously, Pinocchio doesn't die, but the character does switch between an British and American accent because Pauly Shore is a national treasure and can do whatever he wants.

Ske-do

Meme-lover and video maker Bradley Smith posted another video from the movie. In the clip, Pinocchio hugs his father, and runs away yelling, "Let's go, Tibalt! Great adventures await! Ske-do, ske-do, ske-do, ske-do, ske-do, LAK-GAH!"

It's real. This happens at the 19 minute and 46 second mark of the movie. The "great adventures await" line is actually in the trailer, but the "ske-do" repeated over and over seemed like someone overdubbed their voice on top of it. It's unbelievable that's in the movie.

While those are the only two moments Twitter has picked up on so far, there are plenty of more weird moments to come, like Pinocchio spying on a woman inside a trailer as she sings a song while he and a talking horse talk about "wooing" her very loudly, right outside, or Heder making "horsie" noises before kicking sheriffs into a tree--someone needs to make a compilation of that.

Pinocchio: A True Story is out now on various digital retailers.
