"We are more than privileged and honored to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn't bad either."

Did you see last night's episode of HBO's Game of Thrones? If so, you probably caught a glimpse of band members from metal group Mastodon portraying "wildlings."

Mastodon's Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds traveled to Northern Ireland to act as extras in the most recent episode of the popular fantasy show, based on the works of George R.R. Martin.

Mastodon already wrote an original song, "White Walker," for the Game of Thrones mixtape Catch the Throne Vol. 2. But the band was specially invited to appear in the show by executive producer Dan Weiss, who is obviously a big fan of Mastodon.

Here's what Dailor, Mastodon's drummer/singer, had to say about playing a role in the show courtesy of a Reprise Records press release (via Pitchfork).

"It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favorite show Game Of Thrones and to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing," he said. "I watched my best friends Brent and Bill, murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn't mind at all. It made me love being in Mastodon even more. We are more than privileged and honored to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn't bad either."

Mastodon is currently on the road, supporting their latest record, Once More Round the Sun.
