I'm happy iPad/iPod users get a XCOM port, but I would be ecstatic if they ported over to the 3DS or Vita too!
Ironman mode while on the go would be so great!
As long as the port doesn't take anything out, they would have my money!

And of course the iOS exclusivity continues. You know, top of the line Android devices are starting to crush the iPhone. I debated on getting an iPhone but couldn't settle for one just to have more apps. And that's the only real constant that iOS devices have going for them - more apps. But as I said, I still couldn't settle for one. And if all this exclusivity to iOS devices started phasing out, then Apple would have to seriously kick into gear into keeping the iPhone relevant anymore. Not that it would go anywhere, people are still gonna pay for top dollar that little logo on the back no matter what the company pinches out with their logo on it. Of course any platform is going to have exclusives, mobile devices, consoles, etc. But there's still wayyyy too much that comes out ONLY for iOS and that needs to change.

You lucky dogs!   I would love to have this on my mobile -- the 360 version is stellar.

Spectacular news! Really looking forward to this, was actually hoping they would port it ever since it came out - just seemed like a good fit for a tablet device.

Here goes the last hopes of a deeper, more complex game with the expansion..

I loved the original UFO and Terror from the Deep and was excited about the remake of UFO aka EU.
Call me whatever you want but i dont want to play 5 PLAYTHROUGHS(!) to complete a single game! Thats why i didnt bought this gen Enemy Unknown.
I rather have one or two(normal and hard) playthroughs.

Hopefully it is less buggy then the PC version. I has to stop playing.

I really enjoyed the game, but I felt it ended just as I was getting into it, too short for that type of game

Wow, they port a game to touch devices that would actually work perfect for it. Been saying since back when the DS came out that they needed to port the old PC games to it. But this'll work! Probably be really stripped down though.

love the game still but

not the PR lie about bringing modding tools to the community , we should have had more random map creations by modders by now.

Good move I think. I really like this game, but I've often wondered why the graphics looked a bit simple (not in a bad way of course, art style was still okay with me) Now I think I understand, it may have been planned to be ported to tablet systems from the start..

Why not use that time to fix the pc version, still a good game tough ...

Glad to see developers take more of an interest in supporting Apple products. Any gamer knows that games on mobile devices can't come close to console or computer gaming.

I'm curious how gameplay will work, and whether it will be a dumbed down version or not.

@LandauTST Developers release games on iOS because its a much more refined and better codes operating system. You can get much more performance out of an older i device than a newer android one, just because of the operating system. Until android become better unified (never) it won't see the developers that iOS does, simple

@LandauTST I don't think it is fair to compare exclusive games on consoles to games/apps on mobile devices.  It normal for people to buy multiple game consoles to play certain games but you can't expect people to buy multiple phones for the same reason.  Some one could buy a different tablet from their phone but that is counter productive trust me.  I switched to a galaxy note last year but still have an ipad for my tablet since I haven't bought an Android tablet yet and having your tablet and phone OS different is a waste.  When apps are exclusive nobody wins.  I was talking about this yesterday and mentioning that since I live abroad I would love to buy the digital versions of Fairy Tail since manga isn't sold over here but the Kodansha app is only on iOS so once I get my Android tablet I won't be able to read them and would have to rely on my ipad.  So I miss out on reading Fairy Tail until I return to the US and Kodansha looses out on my money from the digital sales, as well as many other readers and with Borders being gone now the manga industry in the US needs all the help it can get.

@Ultramarinus

Zero correlation. Releasing a mobile version of a game implies nothing about what the subsequent releases of a franchise will be like. You may be right, but not for the above reason.

EDIT: Apparently, Solomon said it's the exact same game, not stripped down. I'm impressed if the iPod Touch has that much power under the hood.

@Lord_Python1049 Strange that they wouldn't mention the iphone. Very unlikely that it'll launch on the ipod touch but not the iphone though.

@Mojira7 Not really. They just went with the style they aimed for. Much like Borderlands went with a style that more suited the vibe of the game, rather than punching out the best graphics they could.

@FlashCharge

Your two sentences contradict each other. :(

X-COM seems like a perfect fit for tablets to me.

@macedo77 @Rikomi Throwing my worthless XCOM disc like a frisbee outside is technically a UFO crash, so yeah.

@crunchb3rry It's not the same game graphically. But it is 3D, and the entire gameplay experience is in this port.

Supabul

@crunchb3rry ....Its not the most demanding game, the graphic where really poor

Mojira7

@Zevvion @Mojira7 I like Borderlands style very much. I'd actually consider borderlands art style rather advanced. But I'm no developer so I can't really say..
