The games lineup for Microsoft's Project Scorpio console is "shaping up very well," according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer. A fan on Twitter today asked if Spencer had a specific launch lineup in mind for the console and if there was any chance a Halo game would be part of it.

Spencer didn't give anything away, but spoke generally about how things are coming along.

"Portfolio is shaping up very well. It's great that teams are getting up to speed with 4K gaming now on PC to prepare for Scorpio," he said.

The Xbox One and Xbox One S games and accessories you own today will work on the Scorpio console. However, if you want to make the most of it, you'll want a 4K TV, as Spencer alluded to.

The Scorpio is the "most powerful console ever made," featuring six teraflops of performance. Microsoft hasn't released any footage of games running on Scorpio, so we don't yet know how much of an improvement over existing hardware it will be. The console will also support virtual reality.

Scorpio is scheduled to launch in holiday 2017. Pricing has not been announced, but Microsoft has referred to the system as a "premium" product, so you can expect it won't be cheap.

For its part, Sony is also working on a new and improved PlayStation 4, codenamed Neo. This system, along with a slimmed-down PS4, is expected to be formally announced in September.
