Xbox Play Anywhere: Full List of Confirmed Games

Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program was announced during the company's E3 2016 press conference and, as reports suggested, aims to bridge the gap between its console and PC audiences.

"Gamers have never had more choice in how and where they play," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said during the conference. "We are bringing our biggest games lineup ever to Xbox One and Windows 10, uniting gamers across networks on Xbox Live and expanding the Xbox One family of devices."

"At Microsoft Studios Publishing our mission is simple: Bring new blockbuster games to all of our platforms," added Shannon Loftis, head of Microsoft Studios publishing.

"We are hard work on a rich portfolio of new games ... These games will all be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. That means the next time you're in the middle of that crucial level but have to hit the road, your game goes with you. Save it on your console, pick it up again on your Windows 10 PC."

Functioning much like Sony's Cross Buy promotion, Play Anywhere grants anyone who purchases a game on either Xbox One or PC a free copy for the other platform at no additional cost. So if you buy Gears of War 4 on Xbox One, you automatically have it on PC, and vice versa.

During the press conference, Gears of War 4 was announced as the first Xbox Play Anywhere title, and The Coalition's Rod Fergusson appeared on stage and said game progress and achievements will also travel between both platforms (it has been suggested this will be the case across all supported titles.)

Microsoft indicated that all of its first-party titles shown during the briefing will be included in the Xbox Play Anywhere promotion, and named the first wave of games that will be available.
