Xbox One's Ryse: Son of Rome Coming to PC With 4K Resolution, DLC

Crytek says the PC version of the Xbox One launch title will be a "benchmark PC graphics showcase" when it's released this year and for a long time after.

Crytek's Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome will be released for PC later this year, featuring 4K resolution support and DLC included, the developer announced today. Crytek will publish the game for digital channels, while Saints Row publisher Deep Silver will handle the boxed version of the game.

"We are bringing the Ryse experience to PC, with 4K resolution support," Crytek director of business development, Carl Jones, said in a statement. "4K gaming is another leap in graphics quality for PC gamers and Ryse is the perfect showcase for what's now possible in high-end PC games."

Jones went on to say that Ryse: Son of Rome will be a "benchmark PC graphics showcase" when it is released this year and "probably for a long time in [the] future."

The PC version of Ryse: Son of Rome will include every piece of add-on content released on Xbox One to date. This includes a long list of content like the Colosseum Pack, the Mars Chosen Pack, the Duel of Fates Pack, the Morituri Pack, the Ruins multiplayer map, Survival mode, and the Legionnaire's Trust sword that was initially released as part of the game's special edition.

Crytek did not announce a specific release date for the PC version of Ryse: Son of Rome, saying only that it will be released sometime this fall. The news comes as Crytek has faced questions about its financial stability. The multinational developer/publisher recently sold its Homefront franchise (which it purchased from THQ last year) to Deep Silver. As a result, development on Xbox One/PlayStation 4/PC game Homefront: The Revolution has shifted to Deep Silver. Former Crytek UK developers have shifted to Deep Silver to work on the game.

Ryse: Son of Rome becomes the second high-profile Xbox One exclusive launch title to be heading to PC, following Dead Rising 3. That game comes to PC on September 5.

I wouldn't mind picking this up again if the price is right. Wonder if they will add anything to it or additionally with DLC. I enjoyed seeing this cinematic story unfold in Rome. Guess I knew what kind of game it was going in so my expectations weren't shattered. Raise the difficultly up and you'll likely see your own character brutally massacred in just a few short hits. Again, priced right, I'd like to watch this interactive movie in 4K PC glory.

many pc games support 4k resolution,

what is the new!???????

The game to watch for will be GTAV on PC. Once they pop super sampling and 4k with some nice lighting and texture mods, that will be the showcase

what console users forgot in pc section? what is the point to put down much superior and stronger system?

personally, I love using keyboard and mouse for fps... same for rpg... same for strategy....

then, remote for sport games....

I don't really care that its 3 times more expensive, and that I have to upgrade every 2 years my gpu.

I am not 10 year old who get pocket money from parents....

to spend 300 bucks for new gpu is pocket change for most now days. I wouldn't care if I have to scrap the pc every year if I have to.... its my hobby after all

Now you get to see turd in 4K HD. If they make it also in 4D you would be able to smell the turd and feel how soft and mushy it is.

so it will be  a crap game in ultra high definition ? can't wait to avoid the steam sales for this game.

Fully linear, press X to win, button prompt, handholding difficulty, no replay value graphics demo comes to PC, oh joy.

Might pick it up when it's available for around 5 EUR or not at all because from what I've seen of the console version the gameplay falls very short and combat is a joke.

Since it's a Crytek game and they're owned by EA, if it requires Origin then I can safely ignore it and not even feel bad about it.

The visuals I saw from on the XB1 are nothing to write home about, but it should be interesting to see it at 4k. I doubt I will pick it up before it hits $20-30 though.

This is great news for the people that have 4k monitors...both of them...

Im so happy that the P.C. community gets to show off to the XBOXUno! fan club how this game should really look like.

Playing crap in 4k is still playing crap. So I guess it's just there for those who spent to much money on a new GPU to have one game that actually makes kind of use of it... wow...

Oh and I feel sorry for lems, another exclusive they lose, now they need to get defensive again

I will get it just to oggle at the amazing things Crytek can do with their own fantastic engine.

But only when it's on sale. Because, from what I've seen and heard, half of the game is pretty visuals (that I'm willing to pay for) and the other half is yawn inducing gameplay (not willing to pay for). Call me stingy, but that seems like a fair plan to me.

Unlucky Xbox, even the ps4 can run 4K after a couple mods! (tried posting the YouTube video but it won't let me in these comments, wanna see it search PS4 Hack 4K on youtube)

When it comes to pretty tech demos I think I prefer Crysis. Ryse doesn't give me a rise in any way.

Regardless of the fact that it's a shit game, what kind of message are MS sending by allowing this to happen?

I wish I could create Sony's new marketing campaign:

"PS4, where the exclusives stay exclusive".

@ALLIAMOS obviously you dont know the difference between settings the resolution to 4k and actual 4k textures and support

@TheExxorcist  RAGE vs CryEngine 4? The game play will garner attention but graphically, it won't hold a candle.

Clovergirl227

@xboxgamer2003 1080p is 2001 technology. 4k resolutions are x4 higher. Heck, my monitor right now that I bought in 2006 runs at 2k. Playing a game in 1080p is low resolution compared to modern standards.

SpLiTMaN

@xboxgamer2003 consoles as NO GAME RUNNING AT 1080...let me repeat that NO GAMES ARE RENDERED IN 1080 ON ANY CONSOLES AND AS NEVER HAD.

digigamerx

@iwasgood2u  PC gamers who build their gaming rigs already knew how good their games looked on their PC, we don't need a benchmark of this game to know that we already have good gaming PC's, and in 4K. Wow, talk about lowering the bar in Ultra HD. I never played this game but don't need to reading the countless bad reviews for it. Your right iwasgood2u, I don't need to taste or smell what ever crap I did in the toilet. I just flush it down with the other turds.

Clovergirl227

@masteryoung

In theory just about anything could run at a 4k resolution with a few small tweaks. The thing to watch is what its frame-rate would be. I'm betting the PS4 would chug along at -20fps at static events. I mean for goodness sake it hardly can do 720p at 60fps reliably and 1080 is either locked at 30fps or not available.

Tranula
Tranula

@masteryoung  But if the game doesn't support 4k, what the point of destroying your warranty?  In the name of Science I guess.  DUDE HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  Just watched the video, that's hilarious.

@Hurvl  I think Ryse is a nice looking XBOXUno game.  But as far as a P.C. game, not sure if it breaks any grounds.

Tabarnaque
Tabarnaque

@Hurvl I prefer to use Crysis as graphical card units of measurement as well, 1 Crysis, 1.5 Crysis, 2 Crysis!!!! Off the charts!

Ryse doesn't have that ring to it.

Hurvl

@erik2005 While I don't care much about Ryse, there's no doubt that we PC gamers will get the superior version, with all DLC included and everything.

@sonyonly4 PS4

Go back and watch e3 2013 and see how many games were shown and compare that to how many of them are actually out.

Where's The Order? Deep Down? DriveClub?

All mentioned to lure people into buying the console and yet they still aren't out yet.

Fabian85

Erhm..thats why the ps3 library and eventually ps4 library will be available on tvs via psnow. It will stay very exclusive to the console im sure. Only nintendo can say that. Maybe not even nintendo because of emulation.

Deadlysyns87
Deadlysyns87

@Fabian85 Sony will still make money off PSNOW MS is not making money off this game that is being ported to PC and Published by a different company MS will see no share of PC profits unless a bunch of new people rush out to buy a new PC just to play Ryse. PSNOW is only accessible on PS4 right ??? Exclusive

Sw33tEscape
Sw33tEscape

@Deadlysyns87 At the end of day anyone who owns a PC and runs Windows is giving money to MS will give money to MS when they come out with a new OS (unless you think people are still running Window 7 which is delusional).

The reason MS has no problem with Xbox game not being "XBOX exclusive" is because at the end of the day it will still be MS exclusive.

Fabian85
Fabian85

Yes sony will. They dont make much by producing and selling consoles that is the whole point of it. But its not console exclusive any longer. Anyone can play it spend their 400 coffeemoney on coffee instead. Go for a sony tv next upgrade. Good for gamers but not the kind that likes to brag about console exclusives. No its not its coming for vita and tvs etc ..not so exclusive.

prats93
prats93

@Deadlysyns87 Exactly, there's really no value in buying a console that has no exclusive content, right? That's what consoles are about.
