Xbox One's Ryse no longer Kinect-exclusive

Microsoft confirms Ryse: Son of Rome no longer requires Kinect, will be launch title for next-gen platform.

by

Microsoft announced today during its 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing that Ryse--now called Ryse: Son of Rome--will not require the Kinect.

An extended gameplay demo for the game was shown, displaying a Roman soldier battling various barbarians as button presses are displayed onscreen.

"I've been searching for a way to make this game for a long time," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli said today.

More to come…

Does not require, but is Kinect an option? I am long sick of button presses for canned fighting animations no matter how it's dressed up or revamped. -and yeah yeah everyone, I know how much Kinect 1 sucked at motion for fighting. I didn't like it either. Time will tell if the Kinect 2 is really an improvement or not.

It totally looks like Star Wars Kinect. Same linearity and simplicity. Primitivity even.

Last singleplayer game

by Crytek. I think they want to spew this game out as fast as they can and be done with it.

Lol, Crytek really has a need to put a Y in every game title they're developing. Y?

At least they no longer feel the need to put in Cry in every title, because Cryse would just sound wrong and also be too similar to Crysis.

This game looks sooo frigin good. If this was a Kinect game, like playing with your body(not just voice controls), it would've ruined such an epic game. This is my #1 game for the 1.

comparing this to God of War is ignorant.... It's a realistic interpretation(videogame realistic) of fighting as a Roman soldier..... God of War is an over the top hack n slash mythology based game..... in other words fantasy and extremely unrealistic... the only similarity is the empire it's based on... I personally love GOW but this game looks like it can offer the feeling of fighting in an army through chaos.... realistic chaos... which is something GOW doesn't offer... while that's not a bad thing I think this game obviously offers a different experience separate from that of GOW

The more stuff that doesn't require Kinect only make me wonder why it's mandatory in the first place...

I will skip this one, it seems the rpg elements are nonexistent. I have no desire to press this and press that.

@Vodoo Hi. I would like a game where we use our body like we're actually fighting. That would be so cool. I'll look for a game like that.

@telaros By forcing it on customers, they don't need to force developers/publishers to wonder whether there is enough of an install base for a Kinect-required game.

@Arsonaire What is that Sega game that I am thinking of!? You commanded small armies/units most of the time and fought a colossus, it was in Rome, someone remember it?

@Martiallasmash @Vodoo Perhaps Zeno Clash? I'm currently playing through Dark Messiah, which has a great melee system as well as fun physics gameplay (kicking an orc out of cliff, hehe). The Kickstarter project Clang also sounds promising.

@CriticalCritic @Arsonaire That game style has aged man, anyone can do it now. If they did make it it wouldn't be as good as people think. But 2 was amazing at its time.

@minfreah5005 @WantYouBad @rowija @Arsonaire Spartan Total Warrior was an amazing game, just copy that and add a bit more strategy/army command and it will be delicious.

Can't go wrong with Rome and Greece.

@rowija @WantYouBad @Arsonaire YES! That game was the bees knees put inside the cats pajamas. I hope it is something like that. And I do want some squad small force unit command.
