Xbox One sold out at Best Buy

Retailer no longer accepting online pre-purchases for Microsoft's $500 next-generation console.

by

The official Best Buy product page for the Xbox One (via IGN) indicates that the retailer has sold through its stock of the next-generation console and is no longer accepting online purchases.

The $500 console remains available for pre-purchase at retailers like Wal-Mart, Amazon, GameStop, and Target, among others.

A Microsoft representative declined to comment on whether or not it plans to replenish stock.

The news comes just days after GameStop stopped accepting PlayStation 4 preorders "due to high demand." The $400 machine remains unavailable at the retailer, though other outlets have units in stock.

The Xbox One and PS4 both launch this holiday season.

What I dont understand is when the news came out last week that the PS4 sold out at gamestop, people online were saying how great its going to do and I believe it will.  But why when a MS article comes out saying the X1 sold out there is nothing but bullshit being talked about it?? OBVIOUSLY there are a lot of people who want one..  To say there are only a few at Best Buy is ludicrous. My friend works there and said Best Buy has almost 10x's the preorders gamestop gets. And he also said both PS4 and X1 were selling preorders very well at his store. This console war ONLY begins at launch and if thats what we based who wins the whole console war on then I guess Xbox 360 blew PS3 out of the water last time because the 360 sold a ton more at launch than PS3 did.  Now if the war is the entire life of the consoles(which it is) then the ps3 did damn well considering its launch so I'd get off this whole "xdone, sony wins" bullshit and embrace for a good console war...

so what

once again gamespot doesn't tell the public the ebgames, the biggest buyer of consoles is sold out of ps4, and just heard amazon no longer taking ps4 orders soon because its sold out

I would be happy about the Xbox One getting bought,if Microsoft removes the always have to be online just to use the system or the system shuts off,the always having the Kinect 2.0 always plugged in what makes people think that Microsoft isn't spying on them since the Kinect always stays on while the system is off

I plan to wait, unless someplace allows refundable preorders, I will want to see more: exclusive games, policies, operating systems, controllers, etc before I commit. So far nothing game wise has me excited - and that is all I care about.

Could care less what machine that awesome new game plays on, though xbox1 original policies was a pill I coudln't swallow. And ps4 controller with x,y axis on the same plane is not my favorite design. I hope everyone takes a wait and see approach and voice your thoughts on stuff you do not like.

Anyone who buys this turd, in it's current state, has been up Micro$hits ass one too many times...  The toxic fumes apparently got them *facepalm*

Anyone can have and sell 3 units and say it is "sold out". Rather pointless these news.

There's so much I could say about this but I'd rather keep my job. Suffice to say, don't be impressed by phrases like "sold out" without actual sales figures

Who in the world wants to buy this bloated cable box

I have nothing against the Xbox 360 or Microsoft, but the Xbox One is crap

This doesn't really mean anything, nor does the news that the consoles preorders ended at other sellers. New consoles always run out of preorders and then are out of stock for a little bit of time, sometimes maybe even a month. We won't really know what console sold better until at least 3 months after launch. We'll just have to wait and see....

Why waste money on this ? , i would rather buy another Ati 6870 1 Gb and run on crossfire , then all games maxed out on pc with better graphics , buying an xbox is a mistake i will never repeat

What they don't want you to know: They only had 5 copies.

Well... Some of those XBONE buyers would of not noticed you can only connect via HDMI.. lol..

Competition breeds better products and services. When one company has a monopoly, all it breeds is crappy service covered in crappy products because the company gets lazy. When they have no one opposing them they are guaranteed the sale, so why bother working hard for it?

Anyone who wants only console must only want crap because that's what you get with a monopoly.

MS bought those xbox1 back from Best buy so they can make a news about xbox1 being sold out its a conspiracy!  =O

@Mar044 Oh wow, amazon did just stop taking orders. I just ordered one a few days ago, talk about a close call lol.

It's the same thing. Each retailer is allotted a set amount of units at launch. If they sell more preorders than what they can fulfill on launch day then customers will be pissed.

@fbgbdk4 I think Best Buy may have more than 3 units;)  Dont get mad get Glad plastic ziplock bags!!

@fbgbdk4 Just like anybody can make up a bullshit value.... They sold 10 bizillion derp

@foxrock66 What's important about this is that the Xbox One isn't going away because it's in demand. I doubt it will go out like the Dreamcast did, it's going to do just fine and probably will retain most of the current 360 owners when it eventually lowers it's price in 3 years or so.

@truegamer22 Why do people keep calling it a cable box??  Who the hell cares what a console looks like...  Both the ps4 and X1 are great consoles and IMO the X1 is loaded with innovation and is the future of entertainment so I dont know about crap....

@Mikezero-Legend That would be cool if game developers actually made games exclusively for pc's instead of ports..

@SIDEFX1 I think all next-gen consoles have to be plugged in with HDMI cables

Divad222

@SIDEFX1 Its a next gen console. If you want a next gen experience, get an HD TV already

@billnye69 Agreed. Some people actually want just one console on the market. Some people don't want console to have exclusives. I don't understand these people.

bigmikeOK

@fbgbdk4 @foxrock66 The Wii U is a different story because of the dry spell of first party software, lack of third party support, and the lack of advertisement and educating the general public about the system ( a co worker of mine just learned two days ago that the Wii U is not an add on to the Wii). That on top of the fact that they once again delivered a below current gen technology (seven years since the Wii and the best they have come up with is a system that is maybe only 1 1/2 times more powerful then the PS3 and 360) console and you have yourself some serious problems. Not being biased against Wii U fans but that system is in serious trouble.

skiggy29
skiggy29

@bigmikeOK @foxrock66 Yes your right and when its top exclusives come out.  People who are upset with MS and switched to Sony will go back to MS once they see the games played.  Im a fan of both so it doesnt matter to me but the first year of games as of right now goes to X1 and when they get their PS4's and dont know what to lay on them, they will switch back.  Ive seen it happen just vice versa with ps3 and 360.

truegamer22

@skiggy29 @truegamer22 We're calling it a cable box because Microsoft focused it more towards cable and television over the gaming aspect

truegamer22
truegamer22

@Spid3r6I'm a lot older then you think, and the $500 price tag isn't going to benefit anyone, especially if Microsoft needs to spy on people

truegamer22

@murderek @truegamer22 no smart person wants to pay that much for a system anyway, and at least Sony doesn't have to pay developers off to make games only for their systems

@Divad222 I have 3 HD TVs (I know, i'm impoverished) but one of them doesn't have an HDMI. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO PLAY GAMES ON ONLY 2 TVS?

truegamer22
truegamer22

@Spid3r6 and I have been playing games since the mid 90's, so I know when a company is making a good or bad choice with their systems

@truegamer22 Actually, they do. Also, last time I checked a console platform had games as its main focus, and that's something the Xbox One has proven to be in a much better position than the PS4, at least during the launch window.

@CriticalCritic @Divad222 How do you have an HDTV without an HDMI port...at least one???  That makes zero sense.  Is it like a SoNi or SharpE brand???  Or did Magnavox get back into the tv market??
