Xbox One, PS4 coming to GameStop Expo

Gamers can go hands-on with next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony during August event in Las Vegas.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 don't launch until this holiday, but gamers can go hands-on with both machines during the GameStop Expo this summer, the retailer has announced.

Previously, only the PS4 was confirmed for the show because at the time, the Xbox One had not been officially announced.

GameStop did not specify which titles will be playable during the event, saying only that attendees can "get a close-up look and hands-on experience with the new systems and their exciting launch lineups."

In addition, GameStop announced that Microsoft and Sony will hold Q&A sessions regarding the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, respectively. As outlined previously, only VIP ticket holders can attend the Q&A sessions.

GameStop said only a "very limited" number of VIP tickets remain. Priced at $90, the premium tickets include early access to the show floor, a VIP lounge, a gaming tournament, access to panel discussions, and a swag bag that includes a t-shirt and Madden NFL 25 for Xbox 360.

General admission tickets are currently available for $35 online and in-store. VIP tickets are sold only through GameStop's website.

GameStop also announced today that specially priced student tickets will be available for $20. These tickets can be purchased onsite only.

The 2013 GameStop Expo takes place August 28 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Hey guys what are your reasons for getting Xbox one?

Naylord

As long as they will be at PAX prime this year I'll be happy.

Xbox One (also know as Xbox 180) = the biggest gaming console flop in video game history.

What if M$ had kept their use games restrictions and drm crap. You think they would of been invited to the expo.

I wanna see how the games run on a X1. Not a PC on steroids. Stop trying to feed me the best possible looking game and show me the game that you're really gonna put out there MS.

Will they be using the Xbox this time or the PC running windows 7 and Nvidia Cards?

But well done Xbox for doing a Q&A session this time unlike E3, then again still time to 180 on that as well.

90 bucks for admittance, VIP treatment, and a swag bag that includes madden 25? i'm not madden fan, but sounds like a deal to me. Too bad I don't live in Cali.

Or rather, you can go hands-on with a Windows 7 PC replicating Xbox One hardware.

I'm going. Las Vegas is only a few hours away from me. It will be nice to get hands on time with some of the games and get to try out the new controllers.

@Shango4 Honestly? I like the games, but I like the features outside of the games, as well. I like the TV and Skype integration, snap features, Kinect games (for family reunions and get-togethers), and the like. I'll use it primarily for games, but the other features are pretty interesting to me.

Oh, and I'll get a PS4 too. Some of those games shouldn't be passed up either.

@Shango4 I am getting the Xbox One first as I believe they are trying to innovate a bit more than Sony is.  To me, Sony took the safe route and because of that the PS4 seems more like someone replaced a video card in their PC rather than getting a brand new gaming rig.  Granted, I will pick up a PS4 in a couple of months after release, but I am more excited by the Xbox One.

@djpetitte It hasn't even come out yet and it's a flop?  The bias is strong in you.

@kgallis21 playstation was doing the same thing with  the drm crap  it"s just they said they was going to leave it up to the developers , so what are the developers going to do charge

Spartacus073

@kgallis21 You must have missed the interviews with Gamestop's CEO saying he was most excited about the new Xbox and that Gamestop had been working with Microsoft on parts of the Xbox.

@kgallis21 I wish they kept some of it.  Cheaper games and sales like Steam, ability to sell your digital copies, ability to just log in and play your games any where around the world.  Game sharing online with a friend with only one game.  Some things were too restrictive but some things were moving towards a more accessible platform.

@bunchanumbers I really hope people know that MS tried to pull that stunt.

High-End PC on windows 7 with an Nvidia 700-series video card is a LOT more powerful than the AMD hardware in the xbone.

@Haeravon

Im okay with that. Bridging console gamers closer to the PC. Microsoft wins either way unless your gaming with apple or linux.

Wish I could go to this.  It would be exciting to try them out early.

@rasterror @djpetitte

When was the last time a console had to flip flop on it's policies because of the severe backlash, and not only from fans but from many other creditable sources?  the process of it flopping has already begun and I'm not talking flip flopping.

Marky360
Marky360

Yea I heard about that saw some pics too. It's sad they couldn't get there actual hardware up and running.

franky111

@Asukafan2001 @Haeravon The PC had way more powerful hardware than the xbone.

Nvidia 700-series > AMD chip for the xbone.

BigBossWato
BigBossWato

@Asukafan2001 @Haeravon No what he is saying is that the graphic you see on the The screen in front of you will be produced by a PC and not an actual Xbox One and will not represent the actual hardware in the XB1

greenguy999

@rasterror

The verry first ps3 was 899.99 which came to $1000 dolars, people were buying ps3's and selling on Ebay for 2-3k to make a profit cause once the ps3 was baught out  alot of ppl still wanted it. Thats why i waited to get the ps3 for a few years.

streetnarrator
streetnarrator

@rasterror So you saying people pre-ordered the Xbox heard of the PS4 price Flip Flopped to PS4 heard of Xbox updated policy news and Flip flopped back to Xbox and paid a extra 100 dollars again ? I thinks not !!

rasterror
rasterror

So far it's nowhere near as bad as when Sony basically mocked those who couldn't afford to pay $599 for a PS3 and those sat on store shelves.  Or the Panasonic 3D0.  Or how about blast processing?  Or Sony saying their network was secure and not mentioning they filed just about all of their internet security team? As far as I can see I called about 8 local Gamestops in my area and they're sold out and my boy at my local one said people swapped their PS4 pre-orders once MS changed their policy.  There is flip flopping then there's listening to the consumer and changing policy.  I kind of wish the Vita would flip on their horribly priced memory.

Spartacus073
Spartacus073

@franky111 Not defending what they did, but if it is Windows running a hypervisor then they would need more powerful hardware than what they would be releasing to get the same performance.

@leviathanwing obviously not, or he would have know that "stink palm" does not include one's balls.
