Xbox One playable at Microsoft Stores this month

Road to Launch tour starts in New England next week with fans able to go hands-on with next-gen console at Microsoft Stores.

The Xbox One doesn't launch until late November, but gamers can go hands-on with the next-generation console beginning next week at Microsoft Stores in New England.

Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has announced the Xbox One Tour: Road to Launch event, which begins in New England and will feature stops across the United States and into Canada.

The tour kicks off at the grand opening of the Microsoft Store in Burlington, Mass., on September 19 from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Killer Instinct and Forza Motorsport 5 will be playable at the event. In addition, those who attend will receive $25 off a $75 purchase, though this excludes Surface and Surface accessories and Xbox One and Xbox One accessories.

The next day on September 20, the Xbox One Tour stops in Boston, Massachusetts, at the Shops at Prudential Center from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Other stops include Microsoft Stores in Orlando, Florida; Edmonton, Canada; and Scottsdale, Arizona.

All events are free and open to the public. Microsoft said it expects "large crowds."

The Xbox One launches in 13 regions on November 22. The platform's launch lineup, described by Microsoft as the best in the history of a console release, features 23 games.

I'd never buy a system at launch simply because most of the games are not the exclusives that I want. Besides, what if the system comes with bugs or rushed features that make it function improperly..?

Played both games on the XB1 at TechEd today. Playing on the big screen especially was amazing. Didn't really take that much in as there was a bit of a queue, all I really noticed was the controller felt a bit lighter. Both games look great though.

That's actually pretty cool. Even if I'm not really interested in next-gen as of now, I'd love to play one before launch. But seriously, what the fuck is a Microsoft Store?

I live in WA, where Microsoft is held, and um... Microsoft stores? There's probably some around, but who the heck goes to those? Well, not me. perhaps in Bellevue somewhere. Oh, it's in Redmond.

None of those places are even remotely close to me, so I guess I'll just have to wait until launch. Darn! (sarcasm)

Lol, Microsoft expects large crowds but only offers an hour and a half window to test drive your potential future purchase. These Microsoft stores really scare me because they're just creepy looking clones of Apple and most of the stuff they sell in there isn't even their own products. How about next time you actually allow consumers a chance to test your product?

The only thing worse than flailing around in front of a Kinect is flailing around in front of a Kinect out in public.

@NTM23 I have a Microsoft and Sony store in the mall I go to in Atlanta. They sell computers, phones, tablets, video games and so forth. It very similar to the Apple Store, but with less visitors.

@Vodoo The 360 still has some life in it and it is over 2 months until the XB1 releases.  It is a nice promotion.  Nothing more; nothing less.

@obsequies Hell, in Atlanta, both Microsoft and Sony has stores in the same mall. Coincidently, that same mall has the largest Apple Store in the state.

@Zloth2 @Tyroshubi Some say the whole purpose of Microsoft stores was a place to store all the unsold and returned zune phones... all we know is that no one has ever been to one.

frankwyte81

@Zloth2 @Tyroshubi Microsoft stores are just like the Apple Store, they sell Microsoft products and their partner's products.

@2leetchisgod2 @SpinDie25 We have the Microsoft kiosk here in Atlanta too. But we also a Microsoft store in a mall 2 miles away, similar to the Apple Store.

Oh I know I am just tired of hearing about this game that no one has played but are in love with.  This game that looks like a PC game but xbox supporters are in love with.  Everyone who has played the game used a Key board and mouse.  I cant be hype for a FPS that is coming out on the 360?

Their usual parking spots tend to be outside of schools.

It's where most of their consumers are anyway!

frankwyte81
frankwyte81

@A_Rabid_Dog Well we know that ain't true, since The Last of Us is made by a Sony owned company. Unlike Titanfall, which is published by EA. Name the  last game that EA put out only for one console exclusively, they're too greedy for that, that's why it will be a timed-exclusive.
