Xbox One Now Lets You Work Out With NFL Star Russell Wilson

Seattle Seahawks QB will take you through power, agility, strength, and speed drills in free workout on Xbox Fitness.

In a bid to "add variety" to Xbox Fitness on Xbox One, Microsoft today launched a new exercise program that allows you to virtually work out with NFL star Russell Wilson, quarterback of the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. The new "Athlete Fit with Russell Wilson" for Xbox One is available now through Xbox Fitness; it is free with your Xbox Live Gold membership.

In the "high-intensity" workout, Wilson will take you through a number of power, agility, strength, and speed drills. The program focuses on 20- and 40-second energetic burst drills that claim to give you "maximum results in minimum time." You can do the workouts in any order, and Microsoft mentions in an Xbox Wire blog post that these workouts will progress with you as you get stronger.

Wilson is the first NFL star to be featured on Xbox Fitness, but he's not the only well-known person with a workout regimen on the platform. Others include P90X creator Tony Horton, and fitness personalities Jillian Michaels and Tracy Anderson.

JJ Watt had a workout on there last I checked, too.

The Xbox Fitness is a pretty good app. Good tracking, sees the heart rate, and the Mossa Fight workouts are seriously some of the best workouts I've ever tried.. and I used to be a gym rat years ago, so I actually do know.

Another dumb consumer invention by Microsoft's non-gaming big wigs. They should realize that the Xbox is meant for GAMING. It'll always be one of Microsoft's biggest flaws that they will never understand gamers. And that means that they will always be inferior to Sony.

Now you too can work out like a world champion! Go Seahawks!

I love Xbox fitness. It reads body fat and heart rate using Kinect and can tell when u are doing something wrong and rewards you for doing it right. Kinect really shines with Xbox fitness.

Does this include draping a towel over your head and sulking on the sidelines when things don't go your way?

What is with the disproportionate xbox news on all these 'merican sites.  Nationalism reigns supreme in the US of A.

@justbefahad Nah dude, the Xbox Fitness is actually a really good app.

Saves me from a gym membership, and is a good alternative on days where I don't run.

They have a partnership with the NFL. All say it again because Sony ponies with there tv streaming service don't seem to get it. People use their consoles for a lot more than gaming. The highest request feature on X1 right now is HBO go, what does that tell you? Phil is doing it right tho. He headlines games and related features at the big shows and releases stuff like this before or after.

@justbefahad Yah because the PS4 has so many games right now. Another dumb Sony fan who doesn't realize that a device can be used for more than it's primary focus. Have fun with your phone that only makes phone calls and Computer that you use solely for word processing. What a true idiot...

@PixelAddict @justbefahad I have to agree, I've tried it out and it was intense(well for me anyways). I feel accomplished and happy that I beat the average on certain workouts.

@Darknight765 Sure If there's nothing to play, why not watch TV? I mean is there really any other way to watch HBO other than bone?

@hystavito @Blazen702 this console is designes stricktly for americans, 99,9% of features don't work outside US... My guess is it automatically assumes they are all fat

@quicktim3 *people who fantasize about getting in shape in their living room.

There I corrected it for you. If you're lazy enough to get out of the house, you won't use that fitness bike you bought

@mr_nee @quicktim3 people have conditions where they can't go outside for long periods of time, add in dehydration, heat stroke, rain, snow(though rocky comes to mind lol XD) and a lot of other issues that can prevent you from going outside. This is a good alternative

@mr_nee Hey, it works, negative nancy.

Truly. On days where I don't run 4 miles, I do the Mossa Fight workout... which is a 30 minute sweat-inducer.

Don't complain about something you are ignorant about.

@Barighm the day scoring points on a game(which it does) doesn't make you a "gamer" is the day the world ends.
