Xbox One E3 showing will 'get it right,' assures Microsoft exec

Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg asserts that the company's E3 2013 presentation will clear up Xbox One questions.

by

Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg has further reiterated that the company's E3 2013 press conference will shed light on many gamers' issues and concerns surrounding the recently unveiled Xbox One.

Since the console's unveiling last week gamers have questioned the Xbox One's handling of preowned software, the privacy implications of its always-connected Kinect peripheral, and the company's decision to leave the bulk of its gaming announcements until E3 2013 in June.

Greenberg, who serves as Microsoft's chief of staff for interactive entertainment business, took to Twitter (via OXM) in response to a complaint about the Xbox One needing to check-in online. "A lot of assumptions but very little based on facts," he said. "We will share more at E3. We will get it right."

Responding to a comment questioning the mood at Microsoft's Redmond HQ, Greenberg responded by saying the "mood is positive, good to be able to start sharing what we are doing. But too many details to cover in one day. Stay tuned."

When asked if Microsoft will showcase indie developers at E3, Greenberg pledged that "our team loves indie devs too" and that fans needn't worry.

Microsoft has pledged 15 exclusives for the Xbox One in its first year, including eight original IPs.

Microsoft's E3 2013 press conference will take place on June 10. GameSpot will be in attendance.

If only they had built a time machine into the Xbox one as part of the $500 cost and then went forward in time,  learned that their E3 showing was actually FUBAR, went back in time, fired all their E3 planing committee, went back further in time, convinced corporate to stop the development of Windows Vista and move directly to 7,  go back even further, and finally fire the mobile division and prevent the horror that they released on the world .........The Kin One and Kin Two smartphones, which turned out to be not really smart at all.  If only..............

It does not matter what people tell them because people are still gonna buy the POS. Microsoft is gonna do whatever it takes to get money as long as there are idiots out there that will buy from them.

Pay for a service to get a service... Where else is Netflix and a web browser behind a pay wall?... Oh wait XBOX Gold, and we still get ads with a paid service! Thanks, but no thanks!

That they don't do a ps4, now they should make a powerful console and make more only XBOX ONE games because well... THERE ARE A LOT OF ONLY PS3/4 THAT MAKE THE SONY CONSOLE BE GREATER, AND MAKE THE XBOXONE WORK WITHOUT INTERNET CONNECTION!

dont make the user pay for used games, dont make it a requirement to have internet access, dont mention tv and for the love of god, dont decide to make a banjo kazooie nuts and bolts 2...

I think what we need, or have been needing. Is more full feature disk games at different price points. For example, having a game that is only single player cost $30-$40. That would developers help sell more copies of their games. It would also not waste time and resources trying to make everything "mainstream" or multiplayer.

No thanks, after all the garbage they have already thrown at us there is nothing they can say do or show, that will make me even remotely CONSIDER buying that peice of shit system.

I'm still hoping Microsoft gets it right, but if they in any way block or charge for used games, I'm done with them.

Make it work without an internet connection so our troops and sailors and others isolated from a connection can still use it.

"A lot of assumptions, most of them were right, but we're changing our minds again because Sony is already kicking our ass."

Man, all I wanted was some games. Can XO even game?

Like many here I also concur on focusing on games and make the Xbox one a gaming console and just that, if microsoft wants to get their hands in the smart tv business then release another devise that focus on the smart tv aspects of it and let the gamers have the Xbox one as a gaming centric device.

then they admit that they have yet to get it right.

They might as well give it up With their DRM POS system. They are the biggest joke in the gaming community.

At this point it's all about the quality of these 15 exclusives and if you can make your loyal customers feel like you aren't trying to squeeze their pockets.

"A lot of assumptions but very little based on facts," Well, what do you expect when you don't offer many facts, but leave us all to make our own assumptions based on the small bits of info you deigned to give us? This is how people work: based on what we know, we make assumptions and even decisions. The less we know, the worse those assumptions/decisions might be. While people should use scepticism, common sense and have an open mind, I don't blame anyone from making assumptions and having concerns based on how little is confirmed. Not knowing is scary, it always has been and it always will be scary and scared people don't make great customers. Refusing people to make informed decisions is not the way to build a dedicated fanbase, so you better come through at E3.

I'm tired of monkey minded nincompoops that take every bit of news and turn it negative. I am just joining the Sony masses. Now go pleasure yourself to videos of Knack in all its suck glory.

Yeah right.

Come E day, they'll quickly run through the 15 exclusives, mention something vague about DRM and used games, then Lady Gaga suddenly paraglides onto the stage to kick off a big song and dance in front of the X1

.... and our slimy band of suits disappear amidst all the distraction.

Focus on games. We don't care about Skype, Facebook or Angry Birds.

Gaming announcements... let's see... Some Forza shit, probably next Halo and maybe another Gears of War game, heaps of crap games for Kinect and like another 10 games that will also appear on PS4: probably some FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer (yeah... big surprise there... yawn), Assassins 4, some MADDEN NFL crap (who plays MADDEN btw?), Bungie's Destiny, Diablo 3, CoD Ghosts,... and I am almost sure that there will be no answers for always-online or constantly-online questions and there will be no answers for DRM fees. Am I a PS4 fanboy? Nope, I just hate when publishers milk gamers to death and when they think gamers are too stupid to realise they are being milked.

Those "assumptions" were based on facts coming straight from Microsoft!

To late I have always owned an xbox right from the start but this is a joke , kinect no outside games having to pay even more for live when it just be dumped in this day and age ,I have a panasonic smart tv thank you xbox so I have no need for you anymore it seems but just maybe you one day you may branch into decent games again and then I may reconsider but has for xbox one forget about it sad but true from a loyal but very disappointed microsoft fan

Haha, they will "get it right"? Maybe if they added a power on button, some usb ports, and Kinect didn't suck so much. Requiring game installs of 10-50gig on a 500gig hdd means I can only have 10-50 games installed at once. Internet for movies is lame quality. Wireless controllers and Kinect seem like they will be laggy. 3 operating systems seems like a stupid way to slow down the system. They shot themselves in the foot like usual -- making it bloated with features and not getting any of them right. This is like Windows 95 or Vista ... wait for XP or 7 :P

I'm interested to see what the huge announcement regarding the 360 will be. I'm thinking it will be a redesign with a price drop, but I could be wrong.

I was very excited to get a next gen console but now I'm more interested in what's gonna happen with the 360 & ps3. No DRM, no forced accessories and no double talk.

@LeperousAvenger Me and a couple of friends where having this discussion not so long ago.

The main thing we all agreed on was not all games are full price quality or content value so why are all games released at the same dam price. This is something that could change and be a far fairer system.

The game pricing model is absolutely insane and while i still find value in a game like star trek shhh i am a fan i dont want to be paying the same price as i did fr Bio Shock Infinite or Halo 4.

Restivus

@LeperousAvenger This has been made clear in a recent study: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/05/nyu-used-games-study/

The study found that if the used game market were to be eliminated and nothing else changed, game publishers’ profits per game would drop by about 10 percent. However, it found that if game publishers were to adjust the prices of new games to optimal levels, they could expect profits per game to rise by about 19 percent.

“We find that the optimal price would be on average about 33% lower than the current price level, if the used game market were eliminated,” said Ishihara in an email. “So roughly speaking, in the US, game prices should go down to about $40.”

Since this isn't happening anytime soon, I'm sticking with seeking out used game deals.

@karin_2049 Forza is great,Halo is great and GoW is great(if you just scratch Judgement that is). If  you like God of War,Gran Turismo or Killzone/Resistance more then you know where to play them.
Maybe there will be no answers at the E3 to other questions you mentioned because all will be busy showing/presenting the games but shortly after the E3 all importnat questions should be cleared.

Grenadeh

@jurassiraptor None of those were facts, all of those assumptions were based on rumors and then things that Microsoft said that weren't even set in stone.

Grenadeh

@Joshy Lats Beattie Are you retarded? You really think it won't have a power button? Internet for movies is lame quality? If you can't stream 1080p movies and download giant files at the same time on your network, that's your network to blame or your ISP, not Microsoft.

@rayonmachristie @KillzoneSnake funny then, that E3 is the electornic ENTERTAINMENT expo and not the GAMES EXPO..

revealing a gaming console should be about gaming, hardware and specifics can be saved for the entertainment expo.

Thus M$ has not made a gaming console or is just being stupid. Or both.

@MjnE @rayonmachristie @KillzoneSnake Let me stop you right there kid because here's why you're a dumbass:

Console: colloquial term for many different machines throughout multiple successive generations of HOME ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS. i.e  Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Master System, etc.

Consoles have always been entertainment systems.

E3 - Electronics Entertainment Exposition. Ergo, both the console reveal, and E3, should be about the fact that they are entertainment systems - not exclusive to games. At all. They do and have done far more than games for multiple generations now.
